I thought he was finished this year, but he proved me wrong. Full credit to his hard work and sticking with it. Full credit to the club for sticking with him and trusting the process. Bloody fantastic game by Billy!

He was brilliant, but we didn't get the ball to him in the second half.

He wasn't getting the ball in the second half (neither were a lot of our forward), but his pressure and second efforts were bloody brilliant!

Howe and Darcy were pretty handy. Hope the tigers win tomorrow. Imagine 90000 at the G against the Lions, atmosphere would be like the 2002 Prelim all over again

Excellent post. None of us could possibly know what he's been through to even get back out there. To see his re-emergence is just so uplifting as a supporter and must be the same to the team as well. His brilliant game tonight offsets in some measure the awful news about Levi. Crying or Very sad

He's hit form at the right time of the season

He was superb tonight, particularly in the first half.

Yeah, I've been wondering why everyone is ignoring the Dogs...

Because 6 weeks ago they were barely beating Melbourne and being beaten comfortably by St Kilda?

Sure they had a good win against GWS, but lets not kid ourselves, they are not a threat to anyone and will not get close to Richmond or Lions if they manage to pull off the upset tomorrow.

I'm more wondering why everyone is asking Lions or Dogs/GWS, seems everyone is writing off the Lions despite playing at home against a team who hasn't left home for 2 months and they've done pretty well at home this year in big games.

I was starting to lose hope we'd ever get to see the real Elliott again but it's suddenly all come together for him across the last 5 games.

Now that's the player we all remember!

That smother was the best since Shaw in the 2010 GF replay.

When/where was Elliot's smother that people keep mentioning? Howe's goal saving smother towards the end of the last quarter was memorable, but I don't recall Jamie's.

They are referring, I think, to his remarkable rundown (which may or may not have ended with a smother - I don’t know, I haven’t seen the replay) when things looked tough for us in the last quarter. It felt like he sprinted 120 metres or more to hit the contest at rocket speed.

I’ve just watched the relevant part - go to 6 minutes, 20 seconds left in the last quarter. It’s in that next play.
