Saints told him he won't get a game and is just a "phil-in"
So he thought no point being away from family...So he went back to Vic

Good premiership player wouldn't of won it without him those 2 days
Good luck in the future mate.

Sad to hear! He was a wonderful, underrated defender and had a good career with us. I never saw much of him at the Saints, but seems he had at least a couple of solid seasons there.

That leaves only five from the 2010 premiership squad still playing AFL, or four if we are to presume that Dayne Beams, likewise, has effectively retired: Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom, Ben Reid and Heath Shaw. Guessing that'll be down to two in 2021.

Bloody sensational in those two GFs on Reiwoldt, a huge part of our win. Another who was cruelled by injury with knees and shoulders when he should have been in his prime. Imagine him and Reid fit and firing for the years after 2010, what could have been Mad

The job he did on Riewoldt was immense. That will never be forgotten by the supporters.

If this is retirement, then I wish him well.
