These two guys came to us via the mid-season draft.
Ash Johnston damaged a finger soon after arriving. Aiden Begg was already injured.

So we haven't seen these guys play at any level. Has anyone seen them training? Are there any reports?

I know that Ash was off season training with Grundy in Adelaide. Looked like they were putting in a lot of work. That's a good sign I reckon.

Ash came equal last in the time trial and looked like he was carrying a few kilos in the photos posted by the Club. So not sure how much hard work he was doing.

Gee that is very disappointing for his first season. The players must have an incentive not to be beaten by glaciers like Cox. Needs a kick up his arse.

Been looking forward to seeing these two since drafted. Injury mixed in with covid messing up the VFL season stopped that from happening.

I wonder how they would have gone if not for the mid-season draft? Would they have been picked up in the most recent ND/RD?

Anyway, looking forward to see what they can do.

he does, but doesn't mean he has any stamina. Most sprinters are ripped but couldn't run 2km. Playing as a power forward, short bursts, in SA would mean he'll take time to build an AFL tank.

Yeah he is fit. What happened is McRae is doing time trials and group running sessions at the end of training, not at the start and it's catching players out, Ash being one and Kreuger another. It doesn't mean these guys aren't fit, just that they're being caught out after long training sessions. FWIW Ash doesn't appear to be carrying extra kilos. He's training ok.

I heard Ash is as fit as f---. And that's from someone who knows him, so I don't buy he's carrying some pudding/is unfit and not working hard. He's working hard.
