<split from DTM's thread about the 5 February 2022 intra-club game. Whatever this thread is about, it isn't about that. Thanks, Pies4Shaw for BBMods>

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe Pendlebury was kicking out at stages last season.

I'm the type of person that looks into things too much

But there could be a possibility that Bucks was already a Deadman walking, and that MacRae was calling the shots already at that stage last year while Buckley was just sitting in the passenger seat.

On a seperate note, I'm not too sure if Sidey was sighted in the intraclub. But for me it's fairly obvious that Sidebottoms best position going forward will be in the forward line. For me, SO FAR, I think MacRae is really making all the right moves ( right down to clapping in Grundys face Infront of the team ). He is stern and he is stamping his authority, reminding me of a war general type leader.

I firmly believe if the magnets are in the right places according to game style, plus an emotional change becomes of this group, then they can achieve Glory.

This fwd line could be shaping out to be deadly imo

FF) Elliot Kruger Degoey
HF) Steele Mihocek J. Daicos

FF) Mcreery Cox Ginnavin
HF) Henry Kelly Johnson

And just because it's sounding like a possibility I'll leave this here:

FB) Quaynor Roughead Howe
HB) Pendlebury Moore N.Daicos

This team is starting to pick itself

Grundy, Adams, Crisp, Maynard with McInnes and Lipinski on the wings ( modern day wingman ) tall good marks, and very fast from what I hear.

FF) Elliot Kruger JDG
HF) Steele Checkers J.Daicos
C) Lipinski Crisp McInnes
HB) Pendlebury Moore N.Daicos
FB) Quaynor Roughead Howe
Foll) Grundy Adams Maynard

Int) Kelly Henry Hoskin Johnson

There's no way McRae was calling the shots in May my friend

We were still chasing Clarko in August

I'm beginning to believe we were never in for Clarkson at all.

That would be putting your full faith in the media. Same with Ross Lyon another veteran

I'd like to think Collingwood were quietly already at work, tight lipped making moves with innovative ideas and gentlemen's agreements while the media was spreading lies. Would explain Ross Lyon getting frustrated with the rumours because it's a possibility that we never approached him. He does have an image to protect afterall so I can see why he would play along. It could have made Carlton jump the gun and get him instead of Voss ( which could have been Lyons strategy in the unfolding of events )

More importantly I don't believe Collingwood would allow Clarkson to lead us along for so long, while we keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

I really am starting to believe that the 'higher ups' have been making all the right decisions for longer than people think

Did you forget you're basing this entirely on your memory of Pendlebury possibly taking some kickouts?

It's one thing to say a Plan B was being developed in the background. That's just sound governance.

It's another to say a decision had been made and contract signed with McRae back in May of 2021, and that is the only conditions under which he would have been calling the shots re: game day roles of players including our captain

I'm all for a good conpiracy theory but this is flat earth-level stuff, especially with all the other things going on at the club at the time

I did say that I'm a person who looks into things too much

I also did say 'Gentlemens agreement', I never stated a contract had been signed ( which might I add would be a lot more possible than Clarkson mid-season )

Does Clarkson sound like the person that you could trust in a Gentlemen's agreement? After how he backed down on his word last season? He did guarantee that he would see out his contract... True of False?

I fully believe Buckley would do what's best for Collingwood regarding your 'flat-earth' conspiracy statement. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that Buckley was being told what to do for the new incoming coach.
Afterall that would only benefit the club he loves!

P.S

My memory is outstanding

So if I said Pendles was kicking out, and floating around the backline at stages last season. You can believe my word, for future reference

You introduced the element of doubt, not me

Generally speaking, verbal agreements are as legally binding as a signed contract

Nothing to do with Clarkson or Buckley. Fly was not our new coach in May

You don't accept that McRae was moonlighting from his paid employment as Hawthorn's forward-line coach to impose his will upon a club that had a contracted coach? I can't imagine why. It all seems inherently likely to me. Smile

Sam Goldwyn had it right we he said "A verbal agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on."

A lot happens behind the scenes is all I'm saying

I can assure you after we lost to Gold Coast and were 1-6, it was not Buckley developing a plan B

What the hell would be the point of that Saverio?
