First of 2 Tests. Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

Tom Latham won his first toss as New Zealand captain and chose to bowl first on a greenish pitch.

Matt Henry - in for Trent Boult - took a career best 7/23, to see SA skittled for just 95. Zubayr Hamza top scored. with 25.

At stumps, the Caps were 3/116. Devon Conway 36, Duanne Olivier 2/36.

Henry Nicholls 37*.

"7 for 23. Henry's bowling figures are the best for New Zealand in Tests against South Africa. The previous best was 6 for 60 by John Reid in 1964. Henry also recorded the third-best bowling figures against South Africa in all Test cricket for 100 years.

95. South Africa's total, their lowest against New Zealand, eclipsing the 148 they made in Johannesburg in 1953. Also, by being bowled out in 49.2 overs, South Africa recorded their second-shortest all-out innings against the Black Caps."

Would you believe the Prots are 3/5, in their second dig !? Southee has 2/2.

All out for 111. NZ won by an innings and 276 runs. To put that in context, in their two innings, SA managed a total of just 206 runs. So, one might almost say that NZ won by 3 innings and 70 runs.
