It doesn’t reflect our efforts and development, and that’s what counts this year. We’re showing fight and the next gen are showing good signs we have a future. A low finish with high draft picks, savvy trading, and 2023 is the year we step up and expect finals

Yep, I'd like to see the following players pushed out of the seniors this year

Adams, Sidebottom, Cox and C Brown.

and replaced by the next generation who will be a part of out next premiership push.

It’s more than fight, it is a positive game plan. But fight is always key.

In terms of players in their last year, Cox is one, Sidey is another.

I have a love/hate relationship with Adams. What I have noticed in his career is that he can be very good but takes time to build into form. He is not yet in good form so is frustrating to watch. I don’t see him as our next captain though.

Pies have picked a really good coach though.

This thread 100%. Be the best ever bottom 5 side and get accused of tanking to develop players game plan and list quality for 2023. Deny it but smirk in an agreeing way.

I agree. Fly saying he doesn’t like honourable losses (he has to, he’s the coach) but we have to take a few and last night was one of them. In reality we could be undefeated if we were a more experienced side. We could have rolled over and got done by 10 goals last night but we hung in and nearly snatched it. Gotta keep playing the brand we’re playing and understanding that we will leak some goals with that style and our inexperience.

Players:

Sidebottom will be desperate to get to 300 games but his pace has dropped off alarmingly. His footy nous will get him through this season but after that, not so sure.
Coxy: Gone. With so many other big options now, it’s over for him. He just can’t clunk the marks he needs to.
Adams: in his defence, last night he was coming off COVID and a limited prep. I think he offers a lot to the team still. He improved as the game went on last night.
Brown: has been overtaken by several others. Gunna be a depth player and then put up for trade at years end the way he’s going.

The other one that shouldn’t be in the side at the expense of a new kid is WHE.

Hard to take but being outta the eight is better for us in the long run 🥹

9th is an accurate reflection of our season so far - “best of the rest”

Plus it’s always enjoyable to see the Handbaggers lose

Ill say 14-15th would be a good launching pad as in 2023 we must make finals i feel 14-15 possie would be a good result this year.

These next 2 matchs essendon and suns will tell us more on where we are up to.

Like a solid second half of the season.

Still finding out feet still nowadays.

Whole hearted agree. Despite everything I say in game threads (which should be stricken from the record as utter garbage) I would much rather see development in terms of games into kids, structure and game plan well before any win. Dunno about 2023, Kids will still be shy of 50 games, reckon 24 is the year.

Just finish as high as we can.

Hate tanking. It only breeds a losing culture.

Agreed. Win every game we can and we should finish in or close to finals. Play kids who deserve it on VFL form, like 2010.
