At least, I assume that's who should be congratulated...

A friend of mine who is a mad Carlton supporter (yep, they're all mad! Wink) and who absolutely despises Collingwood, is in charge of a fundraising night for her son's kindergarten. So she is organising a Footy Trivia/Auction night, and has emailed several clubs (including Carlton, Richmond, Essendon, Melbourne and Collingwood) requesting items to put up for auction on the night.

She has heard back from only one club - Collingwood, of course! She received a personalised email from Collingwood, less than 2 days after she sent her request, saying that they can provide a jumper signed by the entire 2003 list.

She made a point of mentioning this to me and told me that she is very impressed with the way things are handled at Collingwood (it must've killed her to say that!). So hopefully someone from the club will read this and realise that their hard work is appreciated.

Collingwood Football Club will this week launch a two-phase "Welcome To Collingwood" television advertising campaign beginning this Friday night.

The initial phase will feature a 60 second commercial titled "Pride."

The commercial features real footage taken from the address made by Senior Coach Michael Malthouse to the Collingwood players immediately before the beginning of the 2002 AFL Grand Final.

The "Pride" commercial will only be telecast this Friday night during the GTV 9 AFL coverage of Collingwood vs Richmond match, and during "Seinfeld" on the Ten Network.

The second phase of the campaign titled "We Hate Coming Second" consists of three 15-second commercials that will be shown over the next three weeks on Network Ten and GTV 9.

We are a great club...and its no surprise that our marketing department responded so quickly.
I requested a set of socks from the kangaroos a few years ago for a Football club that I was a major sponsor of..the blue and white hooped socks........as the team had made it into the finals in all divisions....and as far as I knew there were only 2 teams in Australia that wore those socks....Port Noarlunga FC and the Kangaroos.....they responded with......no, we need them for our own players.....and it was a major player working in the marketing dept at the roos.
Now I am sure if i put the same request in to the mighty pies, they would have come to some aggreement!
