Relaxxxxx people.
Yes, it's a bad sign to lose by that much. But we didn't take this game seriously mentally, tactically, or physically. Nobody chased, because they probably wanted to save their legs. Stupid positioning occurred, because we didn't want to show our cards. We let them waltz by us, because intensity is the key to the press, and intensity is draining.
Did we intend to get smashed? No. Do the coaching panel look at all worried? No. Will a 500% increase in intensity, the addition of Thomas, Shaw, Davis and Maxwell, and finals-like "serious" coaching bridge the gap from tonight? You betcha.
The only concern I have from tonight is the incessant long-bombs direct to Cats in our forward line. That's part and parcel of self-preservation and not wanting to work hard on the eve of what will be a taxing finals series.

I will say that Didak put in another decent performance. 27 touches in a game where the opposition was putting on good pressure and we were struggling to move the ball forward. Still had a putrid shot at goal from 50, but steadily working his way back. Will at least be a contributor over the next few weeks.
Well done boys!

Too tall. Too slow. No way we can carry first year players, Fasolo and Sinclair. Not ready for it. Fasolo was really really poor. Outbodied and out positioned all night. We did not need Wood in the side. Smashed in the middle for the second time this year against Geelong. I really hope the inclusion of experience Maxwell, Shaw and Leon is all we need. Our defence was a rabble. We conceded 23 goals. Enough said.

Re: You
I'm with you Hiss. We left about the same time. I feel for you down Corio way and especially poor Witty having to put up with crap for the next week or so in Geelong.Hiss wrote:You weren't even there internet jocky!Cam wrote:Some of you worry warts need to learn to sleep with the light off. I don't understand modern football if you can simply turn form on and off like a light bulb.
I suppose if we're not going to win the flag this year, then it is a great blessing. Frankly I'd much rather limp out in straight sets than lose another grand final. This time (for the first time) to Geelong or Hawthorn. God preserve us! The bad days are here again.

I went to the game. I stayed until the final siren. I didn't much like what I saw but to be honest I'm struggling to care. It was far from a good game from us but I'd rather we had a shocker now than in the next few weeks.
We'll be right. And we'll learn more from that than what we would had we beaten them by that margin.
SIDE BY SIDE.
GO PIES!

Relax people!
We played like shit tonight, what can you do?
Shit happens.
FWIW, yes we played like a bunch of losers & yes we didn't give a toss about the game.
We'll be right, you mark my words.
In a months time we'll all be laughing about it whilst we're celebrating our 16th premiership...
Let the media hype GEEL up, it's just how I like it!
Never panic unless absolutely necessary.
Keep the faith!

So why should fans fork out the money to go and see this rot? Why should people who are stupid enough to bet on football bother?eddiesmith wrote:His interview on CH7 even more relaxed, basically said no one could get themselves fired up for a dead rubber
I'm serious. These results simply undermine the integrity of the game. Perhaps we should start docking sides 4 match points for every 50 points they lose by, i.e. we'd have been docked 8 match points tonight and Geelong would win 4 to finish on top - a 12 point turnaround.
Something has to be done to force clubs to play games on their merit.
I'm serious!

Some of you who slag off this great club of ours and have the audacity to leave early when we get rolled need to really choose another club like Richmond. We dont want or need you. FFS they won 20 from 22, finished with highest percentage ever and lost a game that meant nothing. Take the good with the bad.

Well, the margin & they way we lost was very disappointing. But they really wanted to make a statement, and we really didn't care too much.
We basically didn't employ the press at all tonight. And I think the two ruckmen experiment can finally be put out to pasture.
My only real worry is the injury to Taz. The Club have said its a sprained ankle. If so, he may be OK for next week.
Shaw, Davis & Maxy back next week will make a huge difference. As will a guaranteed 100% increase in intensity. We wont play like that again.

Too many sooky-la-la's who think they're owed something on this board sometimes. Makes me sick.
