Strangely, this was widely predicted. The late Phantom drafts had him falling to us.Breadcrawl wrote:This time last year was anyone on Nick's saying "we should get Brodie Grundy at 18 after he slides all the way down there for us"?
I think we should take Tom Boyd at 6 and Josh Kelly at 10
Well done boys!

Aish at 6, Freeman at 10.
Personally if both Aish and Scharenberg are available at 6 I hope we go Scharenberg.
Aish is a chance of lasting to pick 10, Scharenberg no chance IMO
If we go Aish at 6 I think I'd prefer we go Lennon at pick 10 if Salem goes to the dees at 9.
McCarthy is in the mix as well but he'll most likely take 3 to 4 years before he becomes a consistent AFL level player much like Ben Reid.
Freeman has genuine speed which appeals but a lot of people seem to only view him as a player worthy of pick 15-20 on talent alone.
In Hine we trust.

Correct AN_Inkling. I remember that other posters and myself were hoping that Grundy would slide to pick 18 which did happen in the end. I couldn't stop laughing after we drafted him!AN_Inkling wrote:Strangely, this was widely predicted. I was worried about the comparison to Bryce Gibbs in that article. Gibbs is a soft footballer.swoop42 wrote:http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-11-20/one-day-to-the-draft-meet-matt-scharenberg

Me too. I hate the Gibbs and Goddard comparisons, neither of them would know what a hardball get is.Jezza wrote:I was worried about the comparison to Bryce Gibbs in that article. Maybe so, but you have to factor in Carltank's 'Hollywood' culture, which makes their players as soft as melted butter. The hardest blokes on their list are Judd (pilfered from elsewhere) and Simpson (who they overlooked for captain).Jezza wrote:I was worried about the comparison to Bryce Gibbs in that article. I would back Gibbs in to be a better player if he had come to us as a kid...

I hope she's right.
We have midfield options galore at pick 10 so go for the berg at 6.

If Salem goes at pick 9 I hope we go for Lennon at 10.
McCarthy has appeal because taking a kp forward worthy of that pick is always appealing but with the promising Darcy Moore available to us next year along with a draft stacked full of key position talent I think we can overlook him.
Lennon just has that x-factor about him that I like in a player.
