Bombers stampede for the exit

Post by Damien »

Seems lots want out at Essendon. The pathetic inability of their administration over the last week has surely compounded the ongoing drugs saga even further. Players have no idea if they will end up with bans or even who the coach will be next year.

Their biggest problem is getting a trade. Would you put your hand up to go there when the joint is such a rabble of uncertainty?

If Ryder and co are gunna pull the breach of contract card all this stuff needs to happen in a hurry if they want to beat the trade deadline or a lot of them will be stuck. Or is this a deliberate tactic by Essendon? String out other clubs on bogus trades until its too late.

Would the AFL extend the trade period under some sort of special circumstances?

The whole bloody thing is a dogs breakfast.

No, if they request a trade they can be traded during the trade period... If the players decide to go down the breach of contract path it changes things totally, as it effectively allows them to walk away as a delisted free agent. They can then sign with the club of their choice at any time. It has nothing to do with trade period and in no way impacts the trade period.

Hey Dyson do you want out?

Hell pick 5 is better than what they'll get for Ryder.

Give em a list of our preffered players in order starting with Carlise and tell em pick 5 is on the table.

We get the other big forward we need (with a risk of suspension over his head)

They get a kid with big potential but no risk of suspension

Call his Manager now Decka!

Bombers will be in a situation where they will take what they can get rather than wait for them all to walk and get nothing. Let the vultures swarm over them. :D

Wouldn't get too excited. Aside from Ryder the rest of the guys leaving had either retired or were fringe and likely to be delisted...

Puts a bit of pressure on a player like Ryder. He's tried to do the right thing by the Bumbers and orchestrate a trade and they then choose to play hardball which forces him to pursue the breach of contract route.
