Stuff that for a joke.

GWS have clearly stated that Treloar wont be traded so it's all moot anyway.
Looking at his stats he seems very similar to Beams though not as big a goal kicker at this stage.

Like Beams there is a bit of an unbalance when it comes to rebound 50's compared to inside 50's.

I dare say like Beams he works harder forward of the ball than behind it.

What price goals though?
And Beams would be going nowhere , sept he decided he was...

Treloar could come out through his manager tomorrow and say I want to be traded to the pies....

Contracts don't seem to mean $h!t this trade period.....

For that matter surely we've been into some Bears managers ears?? all it would take is one of the players we've singled out to say trade me to Collingwood.

MCG in front of 50,000+ every week, 90K ANZAC Day, 70K Queens Birthday and traditional rivals: Carlton, Hawks and Richmond 75,000+

versus

St Kilda in Canberra - April 9,500
Carlton in Canberra - May 11,500
West Coast Eagles in Canberra - early August 8,000

I know who I would choose.

He is worth a straight swap.

Look forward to revisiting these comments in a few years - will take one, two at most :P

Not sure he's equal to Beams just yet but he's not far off it. If he can become a true goal kicking mid then yes indeed. Having said that, pick 5 is already on the table. All we need [by some minor miracle] is for Treloar to say 'Get me to the Pies'.

I'd even throw in Sinclair or Thomas or equivalent.

If Treloar is as good as some say why would they trade him for a player who wont be much of an improvement and is older?

Being worried about the go home factor into the future would be the only reason I could see.

They wouldn't. The way it happens is if Treloar asks to move. Just like Beams.

They'd only do it if Beams agreed to sign a long term deal with them, something which Treloar has refused to do.

He's hardly played in a team that has spent much time inside forward 50.
In an established side his hard running would kick plenty.
Beams kicks more opportunistic goals.
Treloar kicks more running and play making goals.

Beams is going to Brissy. Maybe GWS are part of a 3 way deal? Maybe Wallace is talking shite?
Is Treloar really a straight swap for Beams??? I'd be a little shocked if the answer were yes. Maybe GWS would do this deal and then take picks 5 ,25 from Brisbane. although I think we'd need another player (maybe someone who was highly regarded but hasn't lived up to potential).

Beams has done one thing... one thing that makes me think he is a dead set flog.

He wasn't playing one week and at half time when all the other boys went to the rooms, he stayed in his seat talking to some girl (this was a few yrs ago).

One young kid went up to him and asked for an autograph... Beams said, 'Sorry I'm busy and turned his back to the young kid'. The girl actually turned to Beams and said no, it's ok sign it for the young boy... Beams again then said... 'No he can wait, I'm busy talking to you'.

Young kid walked away.

I obviously paraphrased what was said, but he's a dead set flog.

Sounds fair?

Nope.

Beams > Griffin.
Treloar + 5 to Pies.
4 plus 21 to Dogs.
I agree with this. Under the scenario above - dogs get pick 4 and 5 for giving up Griffen and GWS gives up Treloar and Pick 4 to get Griffen.
That trade makes Treloar worth pick 5!
More importantly, we give up beams for Treloar (which we discovered above is worth only pick 5), and 21.
Isn't this precisely the deal we rejected????
This means that either GWS ort Collingwood are getting stiffed here depending on your view on Treloar.

alternative way to show this doesn't work is that Griffen is worth 4 AND 5 and Beams is only worth Treloar and 21. Since we have established above that Treloar is valued as only a pick 5 in this trade for GWS, this means the this trade values Griffen much more highly than Beams. I don't think Griffen has performed to Beams level nor is he considered the caliber of player Beams is.

Sounds like a dick then.

I was at the Benalla cup last week and Rockcliff was judging fashions on the field (he's from Benalla), anyway my mates a bookie there (mad Fitzroy-Brissy fan) and asked me to go down with him to see if he could get a pic with the Rock, gotta say Rockliff was bloody awesome, my mate got a few pics and his book signed, he chatted to him for around 5 minutes, apparently Rockliff said (when asked) that they would not give up one of their young guns for Beams.

Kobe Bryant did something similar to me a couple of years ago in a bar in New York (he was out with the team after the lakers had beaten the Knicks earlier in the night). His security/PR guy noticed this and went and had a quiet word to Kobe. Kobe then came and spoke to us for bout 5 minutes (and was as charming as you could possibly imagine).

I know you guys hate US sports, but I compare Beams to Kobe, because they have both been to court to defend allegations that they committed the ultimate act of selfishness and disrespect towards other human beings. Both beat the rap.

Sometimes, the drive that it takes to be the best means that they don't always act like the best human beings in the world, mainly because they are so single minded, they rarely think of others.

Other players are more mindful of their image (and I bet some are even just good guys) and so are more accommodating (just as Kobe was, once advised of his obligations to fans).

^^That's interesting because Kobe's reputation would be quite the opposite.

American sportsmen in general would be more careful of how they're perceived though. This is to be expected with the kind of money they earn, their image and personality is just as important as their sporting ability.
Well done boys!
