Stuff it, I'm keeping it interesting.
If Laverde goes at 4 to GWS then we've gotta take Wright at 5.

So there.

Correct, however it also depends on how confident we are in landing a decent free agent next year. If we have already had discussions with Cameron then why recruit another tall, same goes for Dangerfield in terms of a mid.

I'm mentioning these two as I suspect we will or should have held such discussions already.

I really doubt we're after any of these players. Such free agents - unless they are near the end of their careers - always come at a huge premium and threaten to unsettle the side. Darcy Moore will be our Cameron and Freeman will be our Dangerfield.

I tend to agree. Wouldn't say no to either player mentioned, at the right price.

Very difficult although not impossible to get the absolute guns in free agency.

Set the target slightly lower and more strategically about who you may be able to shake loose - say Nathan Jones from Melbourne / Taylor Walker from Adelaide?

Been a while since we landed a "big big" fish! Maybe Nathan in November 1993 would be the last. Whom have we missed in that time?

* T. Lockett
* C. Judd
* J. Brown

And I'm sure a few others. Feel we missed an opportunity in 2010-2011 to snare a big fish and create a "destination club" vibe like the Hawks have done.

We won the premiership in 2010 without landing any 'big fish'. Instead, we'd recruited 'medium fish' in Ball and Jolly, to fill particular gaping holes in our team structure. Right now I don't think we're missing any pieces. Rather, we just need our young players to develop as expected, especially our 2 ruck monsters in Witts and Grundy.

Cameron isn't a free agent next year, he is just out of contract. Meaning we are still going to have to get a trade done with GWS to sign him same as the Beams situation. Enter Wright. If it's decided we rate Cameron more than Wright (if we do draft him), a huge marking tall forward/ruck drafted at pick 5 should get the job done.

That's assuming the player wants to go there.

Agree with this 100%. So we better look hard for a great ruck coach. These guys need guidance to become the players we think they can be.

Cameron is a mad Pies fan, would we send picks & say Nathan Brown to GWS for him? I'd say yes.

Anyway, this is all hypothetical but still needs to be considered in our decision process.

by taking Wright, you have amazing trade bait for next year to get a top shelf player (or you might just accidentally find out you drafted the next Nick Reiwoldt)

What if we could send Brown and Wright to GWS for Cameron?
