Essendon, due to the fact that their seniors are not playing finals, will only have access to players that qualify under the rules I posted one topic up.

Collingwood, on the other hand, can play anyone who did not play AFL today, along with those who are qualified under the aforementioned rules.

So, it is theoretically possible for Jeremy Howe and Adam Treloar to play next week, if that's what we wanted to do.

Okay, the OP is finally updated with a whole bunch of goodies. Broadcast deets, date and time, transportation, player eligibility, admission and ticketing, the usual stuff that nobody wants to read but everyone will ask...

Quick public service announcement, everybody: the mods team have decided to move the thread for this week's VFL final over into General Discussion, in line with policy over the last few years, so as to help pass the time and tedium of the bye weekend.

Should the VFL team make it to week 2 of the VFL finals series, we will look to do the same with that game thread too, to create a 'whole of club' experience this September.

He can, actually, by way of our seniors playing next week, if the conservative route is the one the club goes down.

interesting to see Madgen and Oxley out there. I suspect this is a bit of an audition. Madgen and Goldsack fighting for one spot and Appleby and Oxley perhaps fighting for the other.

I noticed that Murphy isnt picked. Does this mean he is a certainty to play finals?

I'd say he might need a rest after his heavy recent workload. He'll probably be competing with Appleby for a spot in the seniors.

Oxley is a pretty sure bet to be omitted for Howe so returning him to the VFL makes sense.

Madgen is a more interesting decision and I wonder whether playing him is more about increasing our odds of making it to week 2 of the VFL finals than an indication he's a definite omission against West Coast.

Our players returning from injury will certainly be aided if we can keep our VFL season going beyond this weekend.

Madgen playing makes sense also given his relative inexperience with the game... while he played it as a kid, he then went away from it to concentrate on basketball. Any game time he gets under his belt can only help in his learning curve and provide a stronger platform for the senior finals tilt.

Playing Madgen will give us a good baseline to judge the performance of Goldsack at least and help determine whether he looks ready and capable of playing against West Coast.

This is of course assuming Goldsack also lines up in defence.
