Now, he passes Michael Clarke’s 329*. He’s 4th all-time in Australia’s list of highest Test scores.

And he’s clear in second place, passing the Don’s highest Test score of 334, equalled, as it was, by Mark Taylor.

And he’s carried his bat, with Australia’s declaration. Warner with a reasonable 335*.

Incredible story.
95 in 5 Ashes Tests.
Back home. 2 Test innings - 154 & 335*.
Donny.
It's a game. Enjoy it.

Yes, this is sort of forced, because otherwise he'd start getting close to other records and then everyone would feel they have to wait for him to get those and it would drag on forever.

Would've been quite reasonable to let him bat on.
It's still only Day 2.

He’s probably going to end the series with an average of 489. Just about justified his Test selection, I feel.

Media (Jim Maxwell?) say he did not. The claim is this is defined to be only if the whole team is bowled out.

Mitch Johnson reports that he bumped into Brian Lara on his (Lara's) way to a dinner appointment, and Lara could not understand why Oz declared.

Good on him for making 300+ but I still hate the bloke.

Still happy to wait for decent opposition. Yey, bravo, 335*, well done blah blah. Lucky no ball too, in the early 200s, stupid shot but he got away with it.
Was glad to see Mark Waugh not wanting to compare him with the batting greats, saying he’s not quite there. Correct.

In fairness to Warner, M. Waugh could have said the same about any of Warner's teammates (and at least Warner opens, which is more difficult than batting down the order).

When was the last time an entire team struggled to avoid following on against the score made by one batsman?

Pakistan just fell short of Warner on their first innings. They still need 287 to make him bat again.

No, he couldn’t have.
