it makes perfect sense to build list for next year - we cannot make finals this year, and we have no draft picks next year, so may as well snag a couple of talls now

194cm 22 year old forward who will get his chance very soon.
197cm. 18 year old forward / ruckman who would be very likely selected in the upcoming National draft.
Both as “ free “ hits from an M S D. Some people seem a little hard to please of late.

Exactly. These might be inspired choices in the long run. I’m convinced that if they manage to beat the injury curse, they will become excellent players.
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

Correct weight (on all counts)

Well, except for the part about Johnson being 22. Unless the wrong DOB has been published here, he will be 25 at season’s end.
No issues with drafting a KPP prospect.
What did everyone expect - Jeremy Cameron or Tom Lynch? Those guys are never available in a mid season draft and ready for AFL. I like the long term thinking and approach from the club.
Ash Johnson looks exciting - can leap and visually strong - ready for AFL.
Just dawned on me. By the time Begg starts his first pre season with us, he will have only played 3 or 4 NAB U18 games of footy.
Now that’s what you call a speculative selection.

Not Much Different to the Vic Kids that where Drafted in last years National Draft.
Was 2nd round Mid Season Draft Pick so Might as well take a Flyer on him and hope he does not have Shoulder Problems after this and can come a Good AFL Player for us
