keep in mind like Jezza said, that's a percentage of the whole population.
There's something like 6.6 Million people in Victoria, around 2.6 million of them are over 40.
It's only people over 40 plus certain categories of worker or health compromised that are eligible, so lets say that's 3 million people.
At the moment, about 1.8 Million (or 60%) people have had 1 shot and 325k (10.8%) the second
yeah i was goimng to say tassie doesnt count!!!
i didint mean low for oz, i meant world wide low, but then TBH with countries with massive death tolls like the States, England, brazil, india, im happy for them to be ahead in the queue, we may be stuck here, but at least we are above ground!
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

Glady Does not Look so Smart now
Correct DTM. The arrogance of NSW by not locking down early enough for political reasons has meant NSW has exported the virus across Australia. Of course she didn’t intend to do this but when you make political decisions over this health issue you should expect to face the consequences. The delta virus is a highly contagious strain & was known to the many & varied health experts in NSW. However Gladys was far more concerned about the politics which has resulted in shoddy decision making unintentionally spreading to the rest of Australia.
The contact tracers in the so called best system in Australia were behind the 8 ball early on because the QR compliance in Sydney wasn’t as good as it ought to have been
Again this points to the lack of a proper National response with the Federal government being actively partisan neglecting its role in national quarantine responsibilities.
Another fact free post. Well done.
Still zero condemnation of Annastacia who has exported the virus to NSW and the NT and still isn't locking down and that was all by a Victorian as well!!!
What was stupid was to take a bloke from Victoria, wanting just to go to work on the mines in NT, stay in Hotel Quarantine with overseas travellers who are infested with Covid. Dumb decision based clearly on Qld having zero faith in Victoria to contain the outbreak here.
As a result, that bloke through no fault of his own has caused outbreaks in the NT and potentially exported ito to several other states yet WPT through blind ignorance or stupidity claims it's Gladys's fault, purports to be a mind reader as to her motives, also makes false claims about contact tracing and QR codes and finishes off with his standard riposte that it's all Morrisons fault.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
What I find funny is the states are going to national cabinet to suggest quarantining international travelers away from domestic.
First off, you mean they don't already?
Secondly, don't they run their own hotel quarantine programs? So what's stopping them doing it before going to National Cabinet?
Barring a total turnaround, Gladys gambled with their usual strategy and as the test case for Delta strain in Australia found it wasn't effective. Her gamble will cost Sydney a week or two of inconvenience in school holidays.
Dan Andrews gambled on refusing federal assistance and ran hotel quarantine his own way and cost over 800 people their lives, 6.5 million people massively inconvenienced for 6 months and hundreds of thousands their jobs.
I don't think there is anyone outside the most rusted on Danny boys that would take Victoria's handling of Covid over NSW.
3 statewide lockdowns, 16+ weeks of lockdown in Victoria with the most extreme restrictions anywhere
v
First Metro area lockdown, 16 months after the nationwide lockdown ended.
Think Positive is right about the vaccine rollout, so what if countries that actually have Covid issues are ahead of us in their rollouts? So they should be, it's not that big of a deal in Australia, it's only over zealous Premiers blaming the Feds that make people think if the rollout was quicker we'd be saved.
UK is a country they point to and they're still getting 10,000 cases a day and evidence of a lot of vaccinated people not only getting infected but ending up in hospital.
There is zero chance that any government would have had Australia at a stage where the Premiers would forego lockdowns at the moment as they are talking of 80% targets, yeah, that was really likely in less than 6 months...
Anyway, up til the 8pm last night cut off, NSW had recorded 22 new cases.
18 local, 1 from interstate and 3 from overseas. They currently have 130 active cases.
The last 7 days daily cases (total)have been:
4, 11, 19, 12, 28, 32, 22.
The daily number could still blow out depending on household members of infected people, the trick will hopefully be that they're all already isolating

In terms of Berijiklians balls up by not locking down early enough (don’t call it a lockdown) when her experts wanted Sidanee locked earlier (in short putting politics ahead of people’s health) more than half of the 18 were out and about while infectious. Apart from exporting the virus to the rest of Australia and being too slow to react, the numbers in NSW are expected to rise such is the nature this delta strain.
Interestingly there was a party of 24 in Sidanee over the weekend (I think). Of the 18 only 6 have tested negative. Those 6 have been vaccinated. Go figure.
Not only did the chickens come home to roost on Berijiklian’s balls up but this statsistic reinforces the sheer policy incompetence of the so called Morrison government with their inept roll out of the vaccine program. A federal government dogs breakfast.
Only a few days ago Dr Scotty (and the right wing hangers on) was praising Gladys’s no lockdown approach;

It would help if there was a national standard approach to numbers, NSW count every case including those in hotel quarantine whilst Victoria only counts local cases in their cases counts.

They both account in precisely the same way, so far as I can tell. Here's the NSW tweets for today:
Victoria counts exactly the same way. They just don't report the total. Since its only local transmissions that matter, that's the figure we focus upon.

You're right, the Victorian tally I saw hadn't been updated with todays hotel quarantine cases but checking the official media releases they had counted it, but cos they don't report totals anymore on their tweets it never seemed to be going up.
Top NSW & Victorian epidemiologists say what everyone else in Australia (apart from Stui and Eddiesmith) already knew: Berijiklian called the lockdown a week too late:
She played politics with the spread of the virus aided and abetted by Scotty from Marketing. It was obvious this delta strain had to be locked down hard early on. When they chose to do it the horse had already bolted.

In more positive news, the AZ vaccine is now available to everyone. While it's not the preferred option for under 60, anyone can go to their GP and ask for it.
