A normal parliamentarian would stand down (or be stood down) until after the investigation was complete, you can't really do that as Premier.

I'm sure there will be those who'll say she knew she was guilty so jumped early, I wouldn't have a clue about that so I think she's done the right thing by the party. Real leader.

She took one for the team, guessing that she was tapped on the shoulder by Liberal power brokers looking to avoid negative polls.

No that she has gone, everyone is singing her praises the same way no one ever speaks ill of the dead (they were always a good bloke).

Seems like there’s no ICAC regulation requiring politicians to stand down or even step aside for a brief period during investigations, so I’m guessing this came entirely from the party room and a desire to avoid distraction / bad political PR, and has nothing to do with guilt or innocence really.

Easy to forget as we were starting to get used to her, but NSW premiers in particular seem to drop like flies. Average time in office has been a little over two and a half years since Bob Carr retired in 2005.

She's the third out of the last 5 Lib Premiers in NSW to leave office because of an ICAC investigation.

As for why the precipitate action, I suppose everyone here appreciates that the ICAC has powers to compel closed and secret hearings and that the public bit at the end is usually just the bit that sits above the surface?

Or maybe have his own Government agency, Worksafe, lay multiple charges of incompetence against his Health Department and by extension, Him?

But that would require accountability from Teflon Dan of the infamously poor memory.

You do get the distinction between people who make errors - or are even incompetent, if that's your view - on the one hand and people who are accused of actual corruption?

Absolutely.

The incompetence is proven beyond all doubt, the corruption is alleged only.

Basically the situation is the best Premier in the country falls on her sword because she had a poorly chosen personal relationship, the worst Premier in the country blunders on like Godzilla leaving mayhem in his wake and a hard core of brainwashed followers shouting his praises.
