You can download the certificate and show someone without using the App if required, so it looked like the real thing? I'd heard of websites letting people make and download their own fake certs for free.think positive wrote:
Someone showed me their fake certificate, they look real, but obviously only in photos so not on the app, if someone checks properly.

personally i think the fines should be doubled if you get caught, but ive always hated cheats!

Yep, Andrews arrogance may have bitten him in the arse.
He can't afford to let it get voted down, my guess is he'll stall. If this legislation (or a variation of it) doesn't get enacted before the current SOE legislation expires in December, all CHO orders become invalid.
One option he may have depends on Somyurek's vaccination status. I read somewhere that he has provided evidence of 1 dose to get back into Parliament, but if he hasn't had the second by, I think, November 26, he won't be able to attend or vote.

It doesn't really matter, does it? The opposition cannot be seen (at least by people who have sufficient functionality to be able to fill out a pair of voting slips) to be preventing the continuation of necessary protections, so there'll have to be an extension of the State of Emergency or passage of a Pandemic Bill. At that point, the opposition has the fun decision of whether to alienate the part of its support that can read and write and thinks some restrictions are required or whether to alienate that part of its support that is driven by the asinine antivaxxer numpties by negotiating the Pandemic Bill through Parliament with modest changes. Either way, they finish up with about 35% support at the polls.
I'm not sure the opposition had factored in Somyurek. They've gone immediately from being in a position to whine about the content of the Bill, criticise the Government for it and tell voters that they're sorry they didn't have the numbers to vote it down to being able to vote it down and having to take the uncomfortable consequences of political agency.

I don't think anyone factored in Somyurek, this was the ultimate wild card act.
My understanding is the legislation that underpins the current SOE can't be extended, so Andrews is in a bind.
The Opposition isn't actually in trouble, they've already proposed amendments, the ball is squarely in Andrews court.

For the unvaxxed however, they can only go to essential retail. No Kmart, Bunnings, Myer.Positive cases will now have to isolate for 10 days instead of 14
There will no longer be contact tracing related to positive cases and exposure sites will not be published
Household close contacts will have to isolate for seven days if fully vaccinated and 14 days if not vaccinated
Non-household close contacts will only have to isolate until they get a negative test result
Cases will have to notify their workplace, school or childcare about a positive result

If Andrews cannot pass a bill between now and then, all the Covid rules will be unenforceable from the day the SOE expires.

In the explanatory memo to the Pandemic Bill it says:Pies4shaw wrote:Where did you get that understanding? It's just a piece of legislation. Even the Victorian Constitution can be amended by the Parliament.stui magpie wrote:My understanding is the legislation that underpins the current SOE can't be extended, so Andrews is in a bind.
If you have a look at the Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (State of Emergency Extension and Other Matters) Act 2020, Part 3 of ther act saysVictoria's current state of emergency, and the suite of powers it supports to manage the pandemic and keep Victorians safe, expires on 15 December 2021 and cannot be extended beyond this period
So from that, my understanding is the state of emergency cannot be extended beyond 15 December, which is the deal made in December last year and why Andrews is pushing the Pandemic bill through. Without the Pandemic bill or other new legislation, all the public health orders lapse on 15/12.Repeal of this Act This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of its
commencement.
Happy to be corrected.
