Why? The mods did the right thing to move the topic.

It's got nothing to do with Collingwood in this instance.

But we were involved in the original Do Better Report, we instigated this, more or less, and its taken two yrs for another club to do what we had the guts to do, so in that part, it does indeed involve us , we pioneered this type of report into racism in football. :o

Has Fagan actually re-signed? Or is he just stepping away until the review is over? Geez imagine the Lions were in the GF.

Is it likely Clarkson will re-sign?

If the Roos and Lions all of a sudden need a new coach, that would be insane. (And I reckon the Kangers will look to Hird).
Fagan has stepped aside temporarily while the investigation in undertaken, he hasn't resigned.

Clarkson has delayed his official commencement with North, same thing.

Our Do Better report highlighted what could be termed "casual" racism which is largely unintended and can be rectified with education, which is not to say they weren't bad, but this is another level. These allegations are frankly sickening.

Two players attempted suicide due to what happened. It’s that serious.

So with Clarkson refuting these allegations, does that mean he believes the First Nations players are lying? Why would they? What is their motive? Money? Infamy? I think it's a mistake for him to refute them publicly. He should be "no comment" until they are proven - or not. Has Fagan also said he's innocent & shocked????

No, it means that just one side of the story was heard, and that he wasn't even asked for his side before the report was formulated. A fair enough response in those circumstances. Everyone has a right for their side to be heard when such explosive allegations are made. There are 3 sides to every story....

The pregnancy termination is inexcusable. However, it is normal for football clubs to encourage new recruits to move out of the family home and share house with a more experienced player to help fast track the development of their careers.

I am not convinced that asking the 3 players to move out of their homes was racially motivated.

There’s a lot more in the report that hasn’t and won’t be made public that is apparently much worse. Two players attempted suicide because of what happened at the club (the details haven’t been disclosed publicly but are in the report).

It’s possible the abortion comment wasn’t meant literally, but a poor attempt at a joke (similar to how we tell players to get the snip or lock their missus up with a chastity belt around December so theyre not having babies during finals). Clarkson’s an angry little man and it’s hard to know when he’s joking or serious. But I doubt it going by the reactions of the players involved. Even if it was half a joke it’s still offensive. No apology was made at the time. Cyril quit in 2018 and it was always suspected there was more to it.

Yeah put it all down people, make your judgement now, why wait! What happened to the presumption of innocence? "It used to be fashion amongst men that when a charge was made, proof was brought forward to establish it, and if no proof was found to exist, the charge was dropped." A. Lincoln 15/9/1858

Not now, we have the media interview Eddie Betts today, when did he play for Hawthorn? Anything he "knows" is hearsay!

There maybe a case to answer, but it is a ruling of court which confirms that the prosecution's case against an accused person is not baseless.

Have you read the report? There’s a lot more that hasn’t been made public. From the shocked reactions of those who have, it ain’t pretty.

Hawthorn could have been proactive when Collingwood was getting torched, just straight up admitted they made mistakes too and want to do better. But they kept their mouths shut. It’s the players who were affected, two of whom attempted suicide, who forced Hawthorn to do their review. Collingwood’s Do Better was a lesson for all clubs, all AFL, but other clubs thought they wouldn’t have to look in the mirror. Well here we are. Again.

Yes I have read what is available, but the point remains the presumption of innocence is one of the most important tenents of the law, write me a story and cry me a river. It may well all be true, but assumptions made of a one sided story are not how it's supposed to work, Collingwood interviewed everyone, the accusers and the accused, apparently not in this case.
