No, thankfully that contract saga is now over.

Beams was originally contracted until the end of 2022 when he re-joined the club.
So just Grandy and Treloar draining the coffers from outside the Club? Good news I suppose....

Suffice to say he was the most well paid artist in the country from 2019-2022

Surely any artwork he did in that time should be the property of the Club

^ The Club obviously didn't include an appropriate clause in the contract assigning relevant rights from the player to it. That, perhaps, wasn't the worst thing about the Beams deal (even if you put aside the appalling outcome that we got Beams as part of it).

Watching Witts dismantle Grundy yesterday was quite sad really
When Gawn was in ruck Melbourne looked decent when he wasn’t Gold Coast dominated so much they looked the winner
Actually some more terrible decisions against the Suns cost them the game
Grundy was basically a liability to Melbourne other than he made Witts jump to win the taps to advantage instead of just standing still to win them
The down side of this trade proving to be the downfall for the demons premiership chances is now when we look to trade a player other clubs will be weary of why we want to get rid of them so badly
We will see again today whether Frampton can garner more champion data points for the day than Grundy and make it 3 consecutive weeks he has been a higher rated player than Grundy as a ruckman

^ Yes. It's also reasonably difficult to see how anyone could be the "downfall for" Melbourne's "premiership chances" when their team is sitting on top of the ladder with a percentage of 143.6. Meanwhile, of course, while Frampton, Cox, Cameron and Gawn have all missed stretches of 2023 with injury, Grundy keeps going (exactly as he has done all his career, save for one stretch last year caused by a serious structural injury). He and Gawn are sharing the load and neither is going to be worn down, by the looks of it, come September. 79 ruck contests yesterday - Grundy attended 37 for 8 hitouts to advantage and Gawn attended 35 for 4 hitouts to advantage. Each kicked a goal and neither had to get out of second gear.

The bigger issue is the comprised FIXture. Melbourne gets a huge percentage boost by playing the bottom sides twice.

We are handicapped and need to win an extra match during the H&A season to offset their advantage.

Got Pi$$ed all over and totally molested by Rhys Stanley tonight.

The term for his performance against Geelong would be: flacid.
Gawn almost as useless around the ground, both effortlessly muscled out of marking contests without so much as a whimper.

All these arsewipes spent their petrol tickets against us last week and had absolutely nothing in reserve by the time the final quarter commenced.

Now Geebung have hope again; well done cocktards.

Today again showed exactly why Wright and the club was so eager to get rid of Grundy
Yes his salary played a part but the biggest part was his inability to be a factor in the modern game
He’s now the #9 ranked ruckman in the competition across the season
He’s now ranked the #143rd player in the AFL on average champion data points per game this season
Melbourne are + 72 in centre clearances when Gawn rucks yet when Grundy rucks there -44 with the same midfield
When Melbourne agreed to take over his contract they thought they were getting a replacement for Jackson who impacted the game and let Gawn drift forward and when he went forward he kicked goals regularly and his work going back into defence was superb
What they got was a player who can’t hit the ball to advantage a player who can barely take a mark rarely kicks a goal struggles getting back to help in defence and is basically only playing the game for a pay cheque and it shows

Don’t be surprised when Melbourne take a bath on his salary and offload him at seasons end

I don’t think Melbourne will fire him this season but he needs to perform much better in those stats you mentioned to stay on their list long term.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️

I'm hearing on the main board that Grundy our ruck lord and savior has been dropped?

Thats 2 years in a row, for 2 different teams, that he has been dropped/unable to get a game in the seniors.

In that respect his contract was the sweetest deal any football player has ever got I would suggest....good for him

Well who didn’t see that coming
There can’t be any excuses made
His replacement is another tall in Van Rooyen
There going with 1 ruck a ruck who can actually get the ball to their mids
I highlighted a couples weeks ago how badly they go when Grundy is on the ground at ruck
Build a statue for Wright now the greatest decision in the clubs king history getting that player and contract off our books
Watch this space for Melbourne looking for suitors at seasons end to take this contract off there books
Hope he likes harbour views because that’s the mail where he will end up in football wilderness
