RIP Tina Turner

Post by think positive »

Whenever I hear Tina's song THE BEST I think of dancing to it that glorious night in 1990, at Vic Park, after we Won the Grand Final. We went straight there after the players left the ground, took a while to get there, because of the crazy crowd going nuts.

Me and my sister, She got us scalper tickets! The best day of my life, bar none.

It was, as was Tina, SIMPLY THE BEST!!!

RIP and thankyou for the amazing songs and memories xxx

One for TP.

Jimmy Barnes and Tina Tuner, simply the best. I watched a video review where an American bloke said how their voices were like the male and female versions of each other. Listen to that, spot on.

Vale Tina Turner. In my view a great version of Proud Mary:

One of the Wrecking Crew's finest moments. Typically, although it was credited to "Ike and Tina Turner", Ike apparently didn't even turn up for the sessions. Thankfully, Leon Russell, Glen Campbell, Hal Blaine, Carol Kaye, Barney Kessell, Jim Horn and Tina did.

Brutally hard life but came through it all without becoming bitter and miserable. Incredible woman and an absolutely mighty talent.

I loved her older stuff like River Deep Mountain High,Proud Mary and Nutbush City Limits even more so than her 80’s hits when she probably had the greatest commercial success of her career.

Jimmy Barnes does a great version of River Deep Mountain High which goes further toward the 2 people 1 voice theory. Damn she was good.
