Laurie - I think your maths is out. Pendles is 50 games off the record. If he played every game for the next two seasons he would get the record in or around the 2025 grand final. In reality, he would likely pass the number in the 2026 season. Beautiful time to retire at the end of 2026 with the highest games ever and a repeat of 4 premierships in a row to emulate the machine of 1927-1930

Record 426.
383+21+21 = 425.
Yes it could be done, but he would need to play all 23 H&A games, and we continue to play in finals to be a chance to get the record in 2026.
I was using averages, not absolute, which makes it more likely he'd need to play into 2027.

So Pendles has the record for most Brownlow votes at a single club. But is 5th overall for total votes. (Gaz, Danger, Dempsey, and Mitchell played for 2 clubs).
The chances of Pendles bringing home the Brownlow are gone, but how many votes can he get next year? He got 6 in 2023, 2 in 2022, 6 in 2021. Six more votes will see him equal Sam Mitchell in 4th (7 to pass). To catch Dempsey in 3rd, he needs 25 votes, which will be a bit of a stretch now.
Would have loved to have seen him bring home a Brownlow, but hopefully he can at least pass Mitchell, be outright 4th and will be the highest vote getter without a win. Remember when they'd say that about Leigh Matthews all the time?

^ Yes. After his "raw" votes (246, third all-time) are adjusted (to 218.5), Dempsey drops to 5th, behind Pendles on 221.
For the record, Pendles has long-since eclipsed Matthews, who managed 202 votes - but only 173.5 adjusted.
AFL tables gives both tallies, here: https://afltables.com/afl/brownlow/totals0.html

The 400 club
One of and possibly our greatest will in Round 18 be the 6th player in VFL /AFL history ton play 400 games. Have a good season Scott and stay injury free.

^^ As things stand, Pendlebury sits equal sixth on the VFL/AFL all-time games list alongside Robert Harvey.
Hopefully, he'll reach the 400 club in round 17. Then it's another Premiership. Might finish 3rd on the list.
Start building plans for another statue next to Lou Richards!
1 Brent Harvey, 432
2 Michael Tuck, 426
3 Shaun Burgoyne, 407
4 Kevin Bartlett, 403
5 Dustin Fletcher, 400
6 Scott Pendlebury, 383
7 Robert Harvey, 383

As things stand Pendlebury got 6 possessions on the Adelaide Oval and suspected broken ribs. He’s 22 short of 10,000. Not expecting him to play against Port or Essendon. Give the guy a break and let us find out about the others
