The West Indies have been dealt a significant blow ahead of its Test tour of Australia, with Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers choosing to prioritise domestic T20 cricket over the long format.
Seven uncapped players have been unveiled in the West Indies side with Kraigg Brathwaite to captain again.

Zachary McCaskie, Tevin Imlach, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Kevin Sinclair, Akeem Jordan and Shamar Joseph will all have an opportunity to debut during Tests in Adelaide and Brisbane.
Holder has opted to play in the ILT20 in the UAE instead of the January series, but hasn't ruled out playing Test cricket in the future.

Sheesh... Take away WI's 4 most experienced players and the other 11 players in the squad have played 15 Tests between them.
So that's an average of under 1.5 Tests per player...
And Chanderpaul's son has played 8 of those 15. So that's 10 players who have played only 7 Tests between them. And of course at least 6 of them will have to be in the side.
Sheesh, this is bad for cricket.

Lehmann: “I’d prefer a traditional opener. If you’re going to do it, you do it now because the West Indies is a soft series.”K wrote:R. Craddock:
"In that series [WI in January], every Australian batting child should win a prize. But that's not the central issue.
All of Australia's planning must be done with a focus on next summer's mega important five-Test series against India..."

Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc.
Renshaw and Boland look to be the unlucky ones to miss the XI, with Steve Smith to open and Green at 4.
