What do you think our chances are of winning the 2024 premiership?

Very good – we're in the box seat and will be hard to stop

Pretty good – we should finish top 4 and still be in contention on preliminary final weekend, but hard to know from there

Unsure – new season, everyone starts from scratch, and we're just one of many teams that can win it

Not so good – expecting a premiership hangover and/or for other teams to pass us by

Not even the Mathematicians give us any hope.
Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy.

There's always a small fear we might have a Geelong 2023-esque downfall, but I'd like to think we can avoid that.
Quoting myself from last year. Unfortunately, we've had a Geelong 2023-esque downfall as I mentioned last year.

The worst kept secret is - our team is OLD --> 👴.

“...It was lauded as one of the oldest premiership teams of all time last year …the Pies currently have 11 players on their list aged over the age of 30...They have gone on record to say they are going to continue to trade in and bring in players for the now – they’re not necessarily wanting to rebuild.” WTF?

Yeah but if we’re living for the now when we were good aren’t we just hoping for the past when we were good. Reminds me of that space balls scene from just now

"...But it seems to me the solution is straightforward – they need a Plan B."
"...List-wise, it’s hard to find a major flaw. Key midfielders have, statisticially, not dropped off that much from 2023:
    • Scott Pendlebury is averaging 20.7 disposals a game after 19 rounds (22.8 in 2023), with
    • Jordan De Goey at 21.6 (23.9),
    • Nick Daicos 30.3 (31),
    • Jack Crisp 20.5 (21.3) and
    • Josh Daicos 23.8 (25).

There have only been slight drop-offs: not enough individually to affect the result of a match.
...But unless the Pies can find a ‘second wind’ and become competitive again soon, the club risks slipping back to where they were in the final years of Nathan Buckley… all because their minds weren’t on the job in 2024.

The Pies are cooked for 2024. Here's what they need to do next

There is still a pulse, albeit faint.

All going to plan, Dopers lose next week, out of eight, Dogs replace them.

Today did not convince me that we've turned a corner, but at least it gives us hope for another week of maybe still reaching the finals.

Can really see what we're missing at this point of the season. De Goey and Mitchell add that layer of depth that is needed for a flag.
