It was all a bridge to far for Jordy over the last couple months. It all started with an abductor injury that led to a modified training program. That brought on a groin strain that reduced his training load enough to induce a hamstring injury bad enough to include tendon damage. Could have been worse, at least he seems to have avoided surgery. He’s got about a 10 week rehab program in front of him, so the timing is ok in terms of coming back cherry ripe for the next pre season. Might be the best thing for him to get some time away for awhile and then come back hungry once again for the 2025 season.

JDG was pretty much done with his groin issues anyway. Probably a blessing to get him ripe for 2025.
Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy.

I don't want to seem overly critical, but has JDG always looked a bit overweight and slightly unfit? I'm not having a go at him, as he's one of my favourites, and players come in all types of body shapes, but to my untrained eye, he's never looked absolutely ripped. It may be purely coincidental, but I wonder if this has contributed to his history of injuries. I'd love more than anything else, for Jordy to work his butt off, take up Pendles' diet, and come back next season absolutely ripped and raring to go.

Following several references in the What Are Our Chances ~ 2025? and the discussion re JDG, his fitness and best position for the side might need to be thrashed out here a little more.
I thought the attached article was very well written and really pointed to the impact of the injury ward afflicted on our list and our ability to get continuity between players and also the game plan. Please keep the discussion to JDG, notwithstanding the flow on effect it might have to the broader list.

De Goey has only featured in 11 games for the Pies because of the groin issue and says the lack of continuity has affected his form.
“It’s just groin soreness or groin awareness (and) it’s just debilitating in terms of power. Over time it does get better. It’s just a process and you have to kind of push through this first phase.”

I'd love to see him chiselled too, but having a bit of a roof over the playground never stopped Swanny from delivering. Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

I think that body size of DeGoey has given him the strength that makes him such a dangerous player when playing forward. Sure there is the downsize that he has struggled to run through the midfield for extended periods and there are some worrisome injuries such as a chronic groin and the hamstring last year that are probably contributed to by the weight he is carrying. Hopefully he will have made a full recovery from those injuries and return to be his dominating best for Collingwood next year.
