Did you at least look at the team picked? The only difference from last week is Swan being dropped. You can't play the injured ones.Mick's My Favourite wrote:my team would be some of the big little league kids I saw play on last Saturday night v Brissy Lions..
they couldn't do any worse.
Don't say things just for the sake of it please.

Fraser must play forward, he will play there along with Maxwell and Walker as the forward targets. McKee, IMO, will beat Street in the ruck as Street isn't much of a ruckman. Apart from West, Licca, Burns and Bucks should all have the bodies to hit players such as McMahon, Hahn, Gillbee and Power hard which will help our runners suich as Jonno, Lonie and Cole It will be a tough contest, but the Pies will just scrape in.
Don't be surprised if the Doggies win.

In almost every other game of the year I've been confident enough to suggest that we'll find an avenue to goal. At various times when Pebbles and Taz have been out, there has been the potential for Daks to step up with a few and Cam Cloke was there to hold down a key position.
Come Saturday night, I don't think we've got anyone in that team that is going to step up and kick four. King has been included, he's been amongst the goals in the past few weeks with Willy, but as we all know, the step from VFL footy to the AFL is steep and we'd be lucky to get a couple out of King if he plays forward. Matty 'The Bunyip' Lokan is no show of kicking a bag and it seems we are going to be placing a lot of faith in Bucks and Josh to get 3 and maybe Leon to drop a few through the sticks. With Rawlings, Darcy, Bowden in the forward 50 for the Kennel Crew, I'm not confident we can kick a winning score.

It's going to be a funny game watching both teams trying to lose. In the scheme of things the Dogs need to win for their supporters where as we don't.
No forwards, T Walker comes in to show his wares before the end of the season. If he performs he will be at the CFC in 2005 if not he will be traded.
All in all the dogs by 35 points as they simply need to win as they need the money.

Oh well, at least Tex will have a lot of practice in the back line with the 100 inside 50s the bulldogs will get...
i am soooo glad rocca is being rested, it was painful to watch him barely be able to move in the last few games.
It'll be very interesting to see how king performs as a wingman...
Also, they should continue to play bucks as FF. Give the younger midfielders a go in the middle and we also have to give bucks a feel for that role. If we want to keep him playing a few more years we'll need to play him up forward.

No Taz, Rocca, Cam Cloke, Davidson or Dids and Ben & Billy Morrison are playing at Willi. We're petty thin on key forwards. All I can do is hope. We've struggled to score goals anyway, but this looks to be our worst, and shortest, forward lineup for the year. Still, we have a dozen guys all capable of scoring at least one goal.
At least Walker and Jason Cloke are back, allowing Walker to take over some of the ruckwork, so wouldn't mind betting Fraser is going to be spending most of the day in the goal square. At the Dome, he ought to hold his marks, but is going to have to kick a bag if we're going to win this.
A couple of weeks ago, I was thinking we should win this one comfortably eg by an easy 5 goals, but now I am not sure. Darcy could have a field day in the ruck for Footscray and they have a damn good, quick midfield. If they get first use of the ball, we're in trouble. Fortunately, they have also struggled to kick goals, Rawlings being no substitute for Nathan Brown. They go up against our defence which has been a tower of strength all year and doesn't look any weaker despite losing Wakes for the rest of the year. Jason Cloke steps straight back in at CHB and Walker, playing some terrific footy at CHB at Willi, is on the bench. We are more than adequately armed to counter Footscray's forward line, even if they do go ahead and play Darcy at FF.
So, it comes down to being a battle in the middle. At the Dome, we cannot afford to go without Johnno in the middle and Leon Davis on the ball to add speed. And much as I would like to see Bucks play more time in the forward line, this is not the game to do it. We need him on the ball all night. Our run-with players - Shawy, Licca and Dutch - have their work cut out stopping Johnson and West, but we need them to play their best games of the year and do exactly that. Our whole gameplan must centre around winning the ball in the middle or stopping Footscray from doing so; we just cannot afford to let them win first use of the ball.
Or we're mincemeat.
With fingers crossed, 'Pies by 17 points.

Even though I will still turn up to the rest of the games, I have lost most of my interest for this season. In short, my care factor is zero if we lose as long as we keep blooding those youngsters in. I would dare say that with our luck this year there is no such thing as a guaranteed win. Do not be surprised if we lose all 6!
To be honest, I can't wait until the draft and trade week and I certainly hope we draft and trade really well for a massive assault on 2005!
