Dayne Beams

Post by MightyMagpie »

Talking Footy says Dayne Beams now wants back to Melbourne for family reasons.

Interesting turn of events.

We could offer up De Goey and Crisp ...

WTF! I thought he left us for family reasons? And isn't he on some mega deal anyway. Not sure there'd be many clubs willing to fork out that sort of coin for a player whose body isn't up to scratch.

QLD magpie could elborate, but I'm reasonably sure Beams mrs comes from Melbourne. He wanted to go to Qld cos his dad was sick and he lived there. His Mum was living in Melbourne IIRC but may have gone to Bris vegas to support Dayne's dad.

So with Dad now deceased and (I assume) Mum, his sister and his Mrs family all in Melbourne (or around) most of his family is now back here.

Look, good luck to him. I wouldn't look to bring him back, we just don't have a need, but he'd fit in very well at a number of other melbourne clubs including Carlton, St Kilda and Essendon.

We'd fit him in easily. He is all class. However, I can't see us being able to do a trade.

It would mean dealing with the brions... again! Something we've come so accustomed to over the last few years. I guess he'd need to nominate us and threaten to go into the national draft if he really wanted to return, but I can't see it happening, and not for the sort of money he's on, unless they wanted to pay some of it and we give up more players and or draft picks.

Please tell me this is a sick joke. We don't need a slow, outside player.

I cant imagine a big trade offer being made by the Pies. North will probably make a big offer.

If our window is about to open, and you can get him for the right price, you do it. But the Lions aren't just going to hand him back for a 4th rounder are they.

I acknowledge it was early in his career but Beams' finals performances for us were lackluster at best.

I empathize with his situation but you only get to play the 'family reasons' card once, in my opinion.

I would rather we focus on addressing our onfield weaknesses rather than bolstering our onfield strengths

No joke ... Collingwood and Essendon in the frame.

His missus is pregnant apparently. I assume her family may be from Melbourne, but not sure.

North Melbourne have been chasing an elite mid. Now here's their chance to secure one in Beams who wouldn't cost them more than a first round draft pick. Failing that Beams can join the foreign legion at Essendon where he can have Goddard screaming out to him to cover his man (when Goddard goes out chasing kicks).

It would also have to include Greenwood as well since we also got Greenwood in that trade! This makes sense. he went home to be with his sick dad. His dad has now passed away. I can see him now wanting to get on with his life and play for a premiership caliber team.

I'd take him back.

Maybe we get Beams and Lynch for Wells, Sier, Wills, Blair, Smith, Crocker Broomhead and Kirby (plus our first two draft picks).

Before you knock this trade, look at this Best 22.

Maynard Moore Crisp
Langdon Howe Scharenberg
Phillips Adams Sidey
Beams Lynch DeGoey
Stevo Cox WHE

Grundy Pendles Treloar

Thomas Elliot Mayne and one of [Murray/Varcoe/Greenwood/Dunn/Mihocek/McLarty/Murphy/Brown/Brown/Daicos/Goldsack]
