Nope, I asked that. Talking with the bloke who saw him earlier and he said it was a bloke who may have been a marketing manager with the Pies?? Confusing.

This is from someone within the club (do not ask who, won't be answered), so take it as rumour, fact, fiction, whatever you want. But I'm convinced, because the mail has been good before.

It's only about Cousins. We are keeping our first couple of picks to use on (hopefully) future champions in the draft. No Kerr. But Cousins is definitely on for PSD.

Egan and Isles have officially been told they're gone, as reported on Nicks. With these blokes delisted and Lonie and Burns retiring, I'm guessing we would only be shopping Rhys Shaw around, who seems to be the one with a bit of currency. I imagine we'll be persisting with Stanley for another year to see if he takes the next step.

Makes sense to me.

WCE will ask too much for Kerr and realistically if the Blues do get Kerr - they will have to have a fire sale next year.

Cuz would be a good fit for the club with his football experience and work ethic - but I don't know how you balance that with the off field troubles.

Even if Cuz was 75% of what he was our clanger count would be way lower, scoring and clearances would also increase.

Cousins is definitely worth the punt providing he's over his issues.

1) It's a cheap deal in that we don't have to offload any young talent to get him.

2) He is a proven elite midfielder who is experienced at age 30 and who could well play for the next four or five years just in time for the bulk of our young guns who will be coming on during this time.

3) As you stated sq3, his delivery is exquisite and his work ethic inspires blokes like Swanny, so will be awesome for blokes like Wellingham, McCarthy, Pendles, Daisy et al.

A sniff of him stuffing up and he'll be out the door and we simply cut our losses. I'm sure this would be stipulated in his contract if he signs on.

Correct weight. I recall seeing an interview with Kerr where he was asked how he got so fit. He said that when he arrived at the Eagles he saw how hard Cousins trained and that set the standard for him to follow. I reckon Cousins could well have the same effect on our young crop of on ballers.

Remember Daniel Kerr saying that. I'm guessing a few of our boys will be in utter shock if and when they watch this bloke Cousins train with them. It's been said time and again he is a freak athlete and we need someone like him, not just for the midfield on-field but also for the young guns on the training track.

For instance, I can see Pendlebury being a big beneficiery of watching Cousins and training/playing with him. With his skills and poise, if Pendles developed half of Benny's gut-running ability and fitness, he would be one of the very best in the comp.

I seriously, seriously hope Collingwood do this deal. It would be gold.

Quote from Daniel Kerr in the Age tonight -

"He started with Mick (former Eagles and now Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse) and to finish with Mick would be a nice, romantic story."

He was sighted with StKilda players in Albert Park. Not sure if it means anything but was confirmed by multiple people.
