Why do people hate Josh Fraser? Travis Cloke? Ben Johnson? Shane O'Bree? Alan Toovey? Plus many others, who really knows? Obviously like I feel about Maxwell, they dont think those players are good enough, whats the difference? Some people are so in love with Nick Maxwell for his courage and being a good bloke, they get very defensive very quickly whenever someone questions his ability to actually do the job

Not many will defend those other players, only reason Maxwell bagging stands out is because ever since he became the chosen one of this board, he is untouchable and no one will see the light
Pied Piper wrote:Fact: Nick Maxwell is averaging 16.3 disposals in 11 completed games this year at 81% efficiency. That's this year, not last year when he was made an All-Australian. If you want to pick on poor users of the footy, Nick Maxwell's a strange choice. And don't tell me they're all cheap kicks across half-back, either. That would be another lie.

Plus six one percenters a game and 3.6 rebound 50s. Plus the exceptional courage he brings to every contest and the leadership he provides. The respect he commands from his players and coaches. The respect he's also earned from seasoned judges outside the club.
Dont forget the 7 goals against a game

Question is can someone do a better job as Captain? Yes
Can someone do a better job as a defender? Yes
Can someone give better rebounding that Maxwell? Yes

In a time when the game is moving forward, its funny to see someone who would fit in with the 1980's style of play is untouchable, quite funny really

I doubt there is a defender in the entire AFL who gets beaten as badly as he does so often that still gets a game especially in a premiership contender

As for are we a better team with him in it, we are undefeated without him this year, lost to Brisbane with him in it and got beaten quite badly by St Kilda when he played yet beat them when he didnt...

I do find it funny to see someone who thinks he is a better player than Josh Fraser so maybe you should take your own advice

lol, you have a good memory, but, my fraser rants have come from many many years of inept performaces.

i just dont get why your heading down this route, we made our bed when we made him captain, evryone ask at the time, WTF, the guy struggles to hold down a spot in the team but surely his steller year last year put rest to that, remember, he isnt a man on man defender as such, he just reads the play so well and is the best 3rd man up defender in the comp, we all get pissed of with his arm waving and the complete look of shock on his face when his givin away a blatent free kick, that shit he needs to work on, no doubt, and, if he starts that shit again i will subscribe to your news letter, i promise.

Will be interesting to see if Maxwell has bulked up any during his stint on the sidelines.

Apparently has been hitting the weights whilst out injured.
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!

Look, i was one of those who thought dane swan should have been our captain after Lord Buckley, and i did have misgivings about Maxy. But, by and large, i truly believe he has been a fine leader, he is very determined, and has played some outstanding games at times. If you needed someone in the trenches to rely on, then Maxwell fits that bill, he has a lot of guts and determination. BTW, Pies by 39 points i reckon, the Tiges will have a red hot go, but we will pull away in the last qtr.

End the argument Eddiesmith, you're wrong. Incorrect on this issue. So many still make judgments on players from the days when they were developing. Maxy isn't that player you suggest, he may have been when he was younger, but he is NOT now. So important for us it's not funny.

How could anyone possibly stick the knife into our wonderful skipper ?

Maxwell is tough he is super tough, Maxwell with Heath Shaw Harry Obrien down back have made our backline one of the very best backlines in recent memory.

BTW if anyone seriously thinks this is a danger game..Give it away you know little about footy..Pies easily!!

I like that attitude. It's about time we impose ourselves on this competition. Now that our percentage is back in play (thanks to an umpire engineered draw last night  ), it is vital we really thump the Tigers.

Do it, if for no other reason that to wipe that smile of the Witch's face!

Monco Matt wrote:There can be no complacency in this team anymore for the rest of the season. All sides need to be destroyed mercilessly. We need to display our dominance to the entire footballing fraternity. We must announce ourselves as the undisputed #1 team in the AFL, starting with the Saints, tame the Tigers, rock the Blues, scruff the Cats, blast the Bombers, clip the Crows and hang the Hawks.
Love it Monco Matt. Love it! :D
