It's hard to get a true gauge on this kid. He is so quiet and unassuming that making any sort of positive/negative comment about anything might be beyond him.
Does anyone remember Beams first few interviews post match and alike ?
He could barely get his words out. Don't think it's that uncommon young guys these days.
I've got a gut feeling he hasn't signed due to him wanting to actually get games in the seniors and prove he is worth something more than the club may have already offered. It won't come down to cash as we have the room to pay him more than any other club may risk on a guy who has played 2 games.
If he really wants to go home then we play hard ball. Crows or Port stump up what we want no negotiations or he goes to whoever gives us the best deal.
I know it sounds harsh but at the end of the day we nursed him back to football and by my view we are due some sort of decent compensation for that. Also he was a top draft pick who has talent.
I really hope he stays I want him too. I don't think his future lays as a HBF I think he is a midfielder in the Pendles mould and they aren't found under every tree folks.
Let him play a couple more games get settled in the team and then we apply the pressure and tell him like it is.
We will trade you to whoever offers us the best deal and that mightn't be in SA could be Qld or NSW son. Your close to home here so why not stay here. Oh and here's $300k a year for the next couple years just to help you out.

We aren't able to trade him to just anyone. He has 3 options.

1. Stay with us.
2. Ask Collingwood to trade him to Adelaide - for which we will need to be satisfied with the deal.
3. Failing that, he goes back into the draft and risks getting picked by any club - though he can nominate a massive price, knowing that the Crows will have plenty of salary cap space, after letting Dangerfield go.

So realistically, I see him as either being at Collingwood or the Crows next year. I'm not fussed either way, in fact I'm leaning to trading him.

Under this scenario, we get nothing for him. So there's a clear incentive for us to do a deal with Adelaide, should he choose that.

Looked pretty good when he came on yesterday.

At the end of the day it's all in his hands whether he stays or goes.

he should be playing midfield in the VFL, he'll progress faster doing that than playing HB in the seniors.

Leaning towards him staying. His girlfriend who he has just moved in with, is from Melbourne.

Matt is a True Magpie

I now understand why he was compared to Wayne Carey as a junior footballer, and I believe we have a 200+ top performer here, so anybody that believes he should be traded should keep it to themselves from here on. Matt will be a Copeland Trophy winner and I welcome him with open arms, and great gratitude. GO PIES

Nobody is but it is part of the gig of being a "supporter" to hope for the best in respect to our recruits. We realise that in reality many will never realise their potential or that we over estimated teir potenmtial but that is the life of a supporter.

I think he has great potential and I hope he repays the club for its support by staying.

Nope, but it would certainly be helping him settle in if he's in a relationship with a local girl.
