Did anyone see the 7 news tonight? Gold Coast definitely interested, let the
bargaining begin. We'll see how much they want our second best mid.

The Suns were always interested. The trick is not to look too interested and to have an excuse if your bid fails.

I'd love to see Brisbane miss out.

Second that, when a sub par club like the Lions think they can outwit us, well let the fun begin!
Pick 7 & 14 for Beams will have to do.

Here it is boys and girls, if Heater was still at the club Dayne would stay. Journos, seriously.

That's amazing! can he really write this and yet support Hird?
Lockett knocked us back? if memory serves me correctly we voted against Lockett, a mistake yes but I believe he wanted to come.
As for the rest, no other clubs were able to extract Brown or Riewoldt from there respective clubs. In regards to Clark, it's disappointing but he may not even make it through preseason.
However, the cherry on top is that it's more to do with Collingwood rather than spending time with a sick parent. I suspect he's calling you a lying Dayne.
Well done Robbo, let's focus on a young man putting his family first, don't know if you've noticed but Ryder is doing the same thing, but that's Essendon not Collingwood.

One player due to limelight issues I suspect & lifestyle issues has chosen sleepy hollow.
Now a sober analysis would say you're being - how should one describe it: a wee bit histrionic & melodramatic.
Get a sense of proportion rather than catastrophize.
ONE player?! Really? So Hertier O'Brien, Paddy Ryder, Mitch Clark, Dane Beams, Paddy Dangerfield, Luke Ball, James Frawley and several others are ONE player, are they?
Sorry mate, if you think Collingwood isn't in trouble up to their armpits you're either deluded or just plain dense. Personally I've seen all this before, more than once, and the result has been years in the wilderness each time, and it will be again. Whether you like it or not there HAS been an exodus from Collingwood, the like of which I've never seen. It's been happening for three years and shows NO sign of stopping. You people just keep getting it wrong. I said this time last year that the way we treated Heater & Daisy would bite us on the arse, but you all knew better! I said the succession would see us fall out of contention within a few years, but no! you all knew better!
It is not people like me that have put Collingwood in it's current state, it is people like you fools who keep insisting that everything is just sunshine and lollipops and abusing anyone who disagreed with you that have allowed the club to fall to it's current position, and it's people like you who will keep us there! If you think there's even the remotest chance that I'll remain quiet while this happens you don't know me very well, but I'll put that right, I assure you!

^ Ryder was never coming to us mr panic merchant, and Dangerfield hasn't even said yet he wants to leave the crows, he sure as hell has not nominated any club yet. Mitchell has issues, big issues, im glad he is not coming, may not even last the pre season at the pussies. Your panic over the club has become an unhealthy obsession.

There must be major issues at other clubs then because some of those players mentioned haven't gone to a lot of clubs...We were never in the hunt for Ryder and I am glad the Bombers are almost as delusional if they think Ryder is worth what they are wanting.
Frawley, I am not too concerned about... Too much money wanted and too long a contract, someone else can overpay that I'm glad it's not Collingwood, would only want to throw money at Dangerfield if there was ever a chance...
Dangerfield, well, he seems happy at the Crows, the only team that seems to think they can get him are the Dees and they're playing with a draft pick they ain't even got to try and get him... A pick I might add that Frawley is nowhere near worth.
The other two are issues out of the control of the club, but let's blame the club anyway..

Since when has Collingwood been a destination club ? I am struggling to remember anyone of real note coming since Bucks. Pebbles was a given as a result of his familial connection and mums pasta. We are always the bridesmaid. This is not a new phenomenon. Players leaving is however a relatively new experience, especially players that sit in our top tier and as much as i do not like the pessimism of some of the posts here one does need to ask the question "what is going on in there ? "

I disagree 35forever... Daisy wanted more money and he had an offer that we didn't want to match - fair enuf - Bux saw Daisy deliver very little in 12 and 13 and was not going to pay him overs in 14 and beyond.
Shaw was more controversial - and is certainly a long term gain short term pain arrangement.
The max exodus was on the cards with many just too old and not good enuf anymore - Brown, Davis, Jolly, Johnson, Didak, Krak, Tarrant - now Ball and Maxy - none of these guys played AFL after the Pies...! and obviously a few others that didn't have the right stuff and moved on for various reasons - Dawes and Wellers along with Daisy and Shaw - they are the only real issues along with H and Beams! Out of the 6 players that could contribute - only Shaw, H and Beams are A graders and Shaw is 30 next year and H 29! So it comes down to Beams as the real big loss - but hey that happens - Geelong lost Ablett and Hawks Buddy - it happens to good clubs and bad as part of footy - the Pies just need to make a deal that gives us something back for the loss of Beams!
Not sure about the players you mentioned either wanting out - Luke Ball certainly didn't want out like H and Beams do - however there are various reasons for their departure that could be more about the individual than the club!
Don't worry we will get players keen to play for our team - no need to read too much into the early draft movements and speculation of a few players with their own agendas etc that we are not privy to. Keep the faith and enjoy a lollypop now and then rather than just lemons

I have no idea how to do the "cut and paste thing" so pardon me for responding to a reply without the conversation being included.
Jolly and Ball were fantastic additions and critical to winning the flag but neither was a bona fide star at the time of their arrival and i would suggest we got both knowing if we got 50 - 70 games from each of them it would be a huge win.
We have not landed a 24-25 year old "star" for a very long time. i await the end of 2015 to see if we can attract one of the RFA class. We are not a destination club.

A fine, reasoned post - well said.
