Both Beams and Lynch skipped the B+F? That's unbelievable, and incredibly bad form.
Obviously a rift at the club to some degree, that's a public confirmation right there.
Beams can never play for us again
Lynch was there. Obviously an older picture.

Can't believe he didn't turn up. Disrespectful. By all accounts, Collingwood have been trying to accomadate his wishes. They have looked after him, been good to him, let's not forget the support for him after that 2010 incident. To thumb his nose at them last night, or not have the guts to attend.....
Was he really out on the town? Surely flying up to be with Dad would have been a smarter move?
Pretty sad and disappointing.

That's the clincher TP. Anyone with half an ounce of respect would have ensured they were in Queensland with poor old dad. Not out on the town thumbing his nose at his club and making smart ass comments.
I like most was supporting of his reasons before, now I am moving to the Beast stance and questioning what the little ass face is up to.

Fair enough too. I'm feeling a bit conned this morning. Anyone who saw my emotional post early in the saga, knows I don't get to just walk away from the situation.
A little dignity and humility, along with an ounce of brains would go along way right now Beams. You just don't know what the future holds. Could get a rude shock if we don't get due payment for him!

I'm gradually losing respect for Beams now after his deliberate no show last night. I find it really disappointing and almost cowardly in a way that he couldn't be there with his team mates who have stood side by side with him all throughout his career and honour the club who have developed him into the player he is today. This is a slap in the face make no mistake about it. His reasons for wanting to be closer to family are starting to wear a bit thin now with me. I was initially very sympathetic towards his cause as I can personally understand why, but now I feel that he may be using that as an excuse for wanting out. I hope I'm wrong and I don't doubt that his dad is sick, but I'm saying that there's more to this story than meets the eye and we're starting to see that now.

I'm ropable with Beams. I assume the players have basically been on leave from the minute our last game finished. If he was fair dinkum he'd have been on the first plane to QLD to be with his dad. The whole thing is a crock and he is a weak bastard as far as I'm concerned.

Get over it!
Who cares whether he turned up or not.
He doesn't want to play for us!
So move on and work out the best deal.

Correct. But he won't be the last one looking for a way out. Interesting that none of the trade players have nominated they want to come and play for us either.

It's up to the Lions now, if they want him they will offer the best deal to get him.

We live away from Family, have done for a long time.
It isnt easy however it is no where near as hard as its being made out especially with modern travel, skype etc. Even with family health issues.
That said everyone is different and I was prepared to support Beams.
Just not that certain anymore given the latest. There was no doubt a negative influence on the playing group driven by I dont know what - ego and arrogance I imagine.
Those players I admired so much had been moved on and I questioned the clubs direction. The bitterness though on display by these X players just makes me understand that the club knows what is going on and is trying to remove a cancer.
Much in the same way Ryce was moved on to save Heath, Heath and a few of his mates were moved on to protect a few others. Clearly the influenece was and is too strong even from outside the club.
Even now the narative of people claiming to know Dayne has moved from genuine family needs to its just a buisness and clubs are just as bad as players.
If Beams is to be believed then he shows last night, accepts his award, thanks the club for its support and gets an applause and best wishes.
For me now, the best thing and worst thing about loosing Beams is the same thing. His value nothing more.

Agree with this. Not showing up gives one the sense that he knows it's not just about Dad & he is feeling just a little uncomfortable for it. Even if he was definitely leaving, it was a big mistake not to show last night.

It's reported at the swans B&F, Ryce made comment he was glad he didn't play 100 games at his old club.
Clearly the shaw family r bitter.
Beams out with Heath rather than at the club says a lot.
Hope Ryce has 6 girls and GWS and Lions give the boys the latitude to do whatever the hell they want off field.
