One bit of advice JW. Worry about comments here before any in the media. At least they have SOME idea about Collingwood here (whether we agree or not) but most in the media have absolutely NO IDEA....John Wren wrote:lazza, i am not just referring to the knockers on this site but also the media.Lazza wrote:See JW, you knock me for being a shit stirrer and now YOU do the same....John Wren wrote:really curious as to why he would want to leave a prelim finalist to go to a club that seemingly (according to some) has no hope.
I say nothing except to say I agree with you...

Nice one in the year of Merde. Because it is the year of Merde I will believe it when the paperwork is done, a la Luke Ball.
Maybe we can salvage something out of the wreckage. I would be happy for pick 4 or 5 plus a player, anyone as long as he can play footy, for Beams; and whatever we can get from Melbourne for Harry.
Remember the last year of Merde netted us Scott Pendlebury...

Is it really true that we have just offered a bloke we have never met $1.8 Million?
Someone please tell me this is not the case.
Years of list management planning, thousands of hours of watching and profiling potential recruits. An army of scouters all over the country.
Whats the point?
Honestly how long have we had our eyes on him?
Is this a strategic targeted investment?
I hope it pans out great - but crikey it does have a hint of desperation does it not?

How do you know we haven't been scouting him all year?CarringbushCigar wrote:Is it really true that we have just offered a bloke we have never met $1.8 Million?

How do you know that that "Years of list management planning, thousands of hours of watching and profiling potential recruits. An army of scouters all over the country. " haven't come to the conclusion that Levi Greenwood is a very good pick-up for Collingwood and worth the offer we've put in front of him?
How do you know we've never even met with him?
There's a lot of assumptions there to come to such a negative conclusion

Seriously? Is there absolutely nothing the club does that you support?CarringbushCigar wrote:Is it really true that we have just offered a bloke we have never met $1.8 Million?

Club gets lambasted for not matching the $3.5M the Blues offered Daisy and now gets a whack for recruiting some much needed senior experience to replace and Luke Ball's of the team. Doubt the club has made any uninformed approach to Greenwood, kid should be hitting his prime, has finished 2nd in their B&F, he's hardly a hidden secret.
Clearly an oversight by Hine & Co not to post a full briefing on Nicks prior to going after this kid.

Where are my assumptions and conclusions here?
I think you must have drawn your own.
Strewth !!
There's you assumption.
Assuming we haven't met him is making an assumption. Pretty sure you're not privy to the inner dealings of Collingwood Football Club.

I never lambasted anyone for not offering the 3.5M for Daisy
I was, am, and always will be critical for offering the 0.9M as has been suggested.
What choice did Thomas have ??
Now we are offering twice that for a 26yo with 70 games under his belt, that we may have never met.
Excuse me for being slightly concerned.

I think the 1.8M is close and could be unders.
Just wondering if anyone from the club has ever shaken his hand, sat down for a coffee with him?
