His nickname is actually Pig, as in always hungry.Collingwood 4 eternity wrote:Surely his nickname iff we get him should be Colin , just drop the GreenLazza wrote:Levi Greenwood wants Collingwood.
...And then walks to Brisbane in 2015 for nothing when he is out of contract. Wonderful outcome. A triumph for Collingwood that will be. A first round draft pick seems to be what his market value is. I'd take it and be happy with that.Neil Appleby wrote:Have to disagree with RR on the Beams trade worth. Nobody, other than Brisbane, thinks Collingwood is being greedy or asking for 'overs'. Buckley, Hine, Pert and now Eade have delivered a consistent message since the end of last week; that's when it became obvious that the sick father scenario wasn't the real story. Once Beams displayed a total lack of respect to his coaches and team mates, Collingwood started playing hard-ball. Pick 5 and a decent player is all they will contemplate, otherwise Beams can stay with us. Brisane needs to get the deal done to our satisfaction and they have three more days to do it. Does anybody really believe that Collingwood will allow itself to be bent-over on this trade? Brisbane does a deal or Beams finds a home at GC or sits out for a year.

Seriously!Santo wrote:One thing Beams has proved is that he is a <snip>, and this would you think bring down his trade currency, a lot of clubs will probably not want such a person playing for their club, he's as toxic as Akermanis, it's just he's a different more introverted person.
He has screwed over all his mates that he had at Collingwood.

Every club would jump at the chance to get Beams
Aker at 24 was a gem, we would have won 2 flags with him in the side
No true mate would stand in the way of seeing a friend make more money
Get a grip

I thought there were rules against approaching contracted players as well. someone on Nicks will know the rules.Member 7167 wrote:I would have to say the initially the club was making all the right noises in saying that they would trade Beams to Brisbane providing we received reasonable compensation in the trade. Initially I was fully convinced that most of the motivation in him wanting to move was based around his fathers health. When considering his non attendance at the Copeland Night, the fact that he was at a pub with mates and not in Queensland with his father and talk of wanting to play with his brother my opinions have changed.
I suspect that the dollars on offer by Brisbane are a motivating major factor. Some time ago a rumour emerged that Brisbane were after Beams. It would seem now that this was well founded.
This must firstly call into question his character in wanting to leave any club whilst under contract. The fact that he did not attend the Copeland was also very poor form. I would also like to know how Beams or his management were approached by Brisbane as I was of the understanding it was outside of the AFL rules for a contacted player to be approached in this manner?
Could someone please clarify?
Are the AFL poaching laws still in place?RudeBoy wrote:I thought there were rules against approaching contracted players as well. someone on Nicks will know the rules.Member 7167 wrote:I would have to say the initially the club was making all the right noises in saying that they would trade Beams to Brisbane providing we received reasonable compensation in the trade.
