I am certainly not anti-Freo, but tell me what did those stupid little purple jumper wearing pansies ever do to deserve another draft pick.

The AFL claims that Freo would have retained Jeff White if Melb hadn't unfairly taken him, but do they really think we forget that quickly? I clearly remember White publicly demanding to be traded to any of the Melbourne clubs or he would be forced to nominate for the draft.

So really it was all the Melb clubs who were bidding for White who were hard done by.
Melb gave Freo their number 1 and 2 draft picks, THAT was their compensation.

The real losers out of this were St. Kilda who were out-bid for Jamie Shanahan and they got nothin for him.

I believe the AFL is using this as an excuse to help the struggling Fremantle into a better position.

And maybe as a bit of a square up as they only gave Freo concessions for their first 2 years, where west coast got extra picks for their first 4 or 5 years.

on an unrelated topic, since melbourne are excluded from the first round of the draft, is there any senior melbourne players that we could get for an early draft pick? surely melbourne would be interested in a package deal, something involving a couple of good, established players. i reckon it might be an idea, i just can't think of any suitable melbourne players.
