Post subject: Did a bad Umpiring decision start the rot? | |
|
With about 4 mins to go b4 3 qtr time, we clawed our way back to a goal down. the ball came forward and a free kick to Didak, obvious to all bar the umpire, 20 meters out, to level the scores was NOT paid. Scum scored immediately from this play, and twice more before the siren. Instead of scores level it was 4 down.Any thoughts ?? _________________ GO THE MIGHTY PIES |

Yep that was VERY frustrating but no way can our atrocious performance be blamed on umpires this week ,essendon were too good. _________________ Those with the most invested are the last to surrender!

Poor skills cost us, simple as that. you just have to look at the way the Bombers feed the ball into there forward like. Right down the middle. |

Point taken CQ ,don't agree about Cupido, he was caught first, and dropped it hot. My point is we were in it up to our necks and were totally flogged by a very committed side after that.Scores level at 3/4 time would have been interesting. _________________ GO THE MIGHTY PIES |

I doubt it.
I thought the rot started early in the first quarter. After we'd kicked two goals, something very ugly happened to the game and we never in it. Even when we came back we weren't travelling like winners.
The umps gave us a more-than-fair deal, I thought.
At half time I predicted that we would lose by 12 to 15 goals. I wasn't far off the mark.
I'd blame our attitude rather than umpiring. We were never going that well that one decision would make all the difference.
A day that can be summed up as follows:

yes i agree alf, i thought the game was going quite well, for about the first 10 minutes, then after that we never looked like winning.
their attitudes are wrong, they prolly think theyre gonna cruise into the finals just bcos the miraculousy proved everyone wrong last year and did so.
what happened to the 1%ers? seem to have disappeared, didnt chase the man down, didnt tackle, watched them go past, didnt man up, essendon had free players everywhere, slow off the mark, hearts weren't in it, couldn't be bothered, etc etc. |

Crikey, one minute I'm disagreeing with Alf, the next I couldn't agree more. Quite right after the first 2 goals we didn't look like taking control let alone actually winning. The umps did a reasonably good job I thought, what's wrong with me?! _________________ Go Pies! |

i never expect help from the umps in any match, just imgine if shennan was umpire we would have lost by 20goals so we should really complain about the umps |

I'll probably get clipped on the ears for this from u fine, lovely people but i actually thought the umpires were good yesterday. They actually let the players play football and i didnt have to scream at them like i normally do. Sure there was a few bad decisions but i thought it was way better yesterday then ive seen in a while. my mum agrees with me on that one.
Im not an umpires biggest fan, im telling you, so for me to say this, it makes it a big deal lolz!
We didnt play as fantastically this week, as we normally do, and that was coz of us, not coz of umpires!
Love always, Alyssa xoxo

yes, i think a few ppl need to get over the whole 'umpires are conspiring against us' mentality. im really sick and tired of hearing about it.
oh and at one stage the frees were 11-4 in our favour so if ur gonna say anything about the umps u would have to say that they were conspiring against essendon! |
