Big mistake getting Marty Clarke Back IMO! |
It's shit comments like that from Malthouse that are the reason why I wouldn't wipe my arse with his book.
He obviously has something personal against Marty, that showed in 2009, and thank god Bucks is coach and we get our little Irish superstar back.
We need Marty, we need to add to our playing list, just like we have over the past 2 years with Taz, Ball, Jolly and Krak, and this year Marty is our first senior addition.
Bucks loves him, I know that for a fact, they were very close before Marty left, and Bucks will welcome a Collingwood player, who almost won a flag for us in 07 (he was immense in the 07 finals series). back with open arms. |

BS!
Clarke wasn't good enough to take the extra step to keep his spot in the team. No room for sentiments in football. Just because you like him, doesn't make him a good player for us.
I can see this being a failure for both parties, if he is coming back to the team.
He wont help us reclaim the flag next year, or the year after. _________________ Social club member 7342 since 2000. |

Tooves wasn't the same player after his hand injury and had a crap end to the season IMO.
Still he'll get over that and I want to keep him but not at any cost.
Players like Goldsack or Tom Young could be viable replacements. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

i agree, jack darling was pick 24 last year. a player of that quality and maturity could easily come straight into a premiership contender. im sick of people under-valueing draft picks especially when we have a veritable gold mine at our disposal in derek hine. |

Agree with you both! Hard decisions ahead but if we go for a draft pick there is one better than Hine. I hate this period!
glad I am not making any decisions otherwise We would get caught with at least 10 more players contracted not to mention the salary cap. |

Ditto for those over-rating draft picks. The chances of getting a player who'll feature in 10-15 games in their first year, at pick 25, is pretty slim. Darling's an exception not the rule. The best we've done recently is Fas, and even he didn't have a huge impact on our season. Others: J.Thomas, Sinclair, Rounds, Blight etc... have taken more than a year to even get one game.
If we see Clarke as someone who could play in our best team next year, there's no reason not to pick him up. We're aiming for the flag next year, and will want as many mature-bodied AFL ready players as possible.
The club knows the type of player who'll be available at pick 25 (remember that quality varies from draft to draft). They know what Marty Clarke can offer. They know what else we are getting in the deal (said to be Jamie Elliott and a pick in the 60s) and how highly they value them. Mos tof the above known knowns by the club are unknown to us.
So for me, I broadly support getting Clarke because he's a mature player of some quality, who should be ready for AFL level footy. I'll leave it to the club to decide on what we should give up for him, because I know next to nothing about who might be available at pick 25 or 60+ or this Jamie Elliott fella. _________________ Well done boys! |

We say in Hine we trust and the club knows what they are doing, then it's time we stopped second guessing them all the time. If Derek Hine and the crew think Marty is worth it then I for one am comfortable with that. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

ANYTIME that dreaded word Colliewobbles is mentioned, I always need a drink, and a strong one at that, preferably a JD or JB and coke. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.
