Post subject: Guy Richards - To get a game this year? | |
|
This morning's Age says something like "Collingwood supporters will be pleased by the form of Guy Richards" in the Will - Werribee game, and I think Michael Broadbridge suggests he will get a game in the AFL before the end of the year.
It would be great to see some reward for our investment in Guy. Anyone who saw the Willi game - any comments? |

I would give him a game, just to see how he handles it. He did play very well for Willi yesterday and he has shown that he is willing to go in hard for the ball when he needs to which I think is something that was lacking from his game previously.
Cam Cloke is also someone who I would expect to at least get one game this year, he is pretty versatile for such a big player. |

The new ruck rule interpretation would suit his style of play. He is a better tap ruckman than Josh or McKee. He showed a lot of promise before his kidney injury which set him back a year. He reads the ball well, whether he is up to AFL is the big question. If he gets included in the senior team the powers at be must think he is. |

Herald/Sun states that Cameron Cloke impressed as did Cole & Freeza was solid in defence.
Gotch stated it was the Seagulls best win of the season. |

richards played easily the best game i've seen him play for the year against weribee yesterday - he was superb. There are match reports in the training section if anyone wants details - i dont know whether hes ready for senior selection yet, but if he keeps playing like he did yesterday hes in with a serious chance. |

Cole would be a good addition... I am not 100% certain as to the reason he was dropped in the first place. He was quiet in the Melbourne game, yet not disasterous.
Apparently Guy has had a string of good performances. My uncle has been watching him play and has been very impressed.
Cole + Shaw to come in is my pick.
Freeborn mabye for McGough... Border line on that one |

I think if we decided to bring in another ruckman it would have to be Richards. Cloke is probably in better form, but being in his first year he will have plenty of chances down the track.
Richards was looking down the barrel of being cut at the years end, but since he is starting to put for together he must be given every chance. |

Do you have some contact that's told you this. If not I think it's a pretty disapointing comment. He's only young and has injuries. Good to see he's coming good. He will be a superstar one day. |

I think we should give him a go , The club has been playing it safe all year, and with the season potentially slipping away , its time to make some tough descisions . Certainly with the 4 man interchange we can go for a project player each week , and Richards would be a good choice over the next 2 to see what he can offer. Good players have a habit of rising to the occasion , so it would be a great test |

I do actually but it doesn't take a genius to figure it out either. He had been surpassed by Crow and even Cloke early this season making him the number 6 ruck option in a side that was failing to make an impact at all in the ruck and he wasn't producing anything in the 2's.
Don't get me wrong its great to see him doing something, and as I said he needs to be played. |
