Revenue share should be based on advertising / marketing and revenue. If the womans game prints in the same share of revenue as the mens game, then they deserve equal pay. If it's not, then they should earn an amount commensurate with the revenue they generate.
Time on court might be one factor that determines appropriate pay. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

I get that there might be arguments for/against it. I just don't see how it really affects us in any way. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Clearly I need to read the thread titles a little more closely. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Yep. If the revenue they generate through ticket sales and TV rights and so on is equal (love to see the numbers on that!), then they should get paid the same. Sure, they only play three sets, but if the revenue they generate in those three sets is equal to the revenue the men generate in five, then they deserve to share equally in that revenue.
But is it equal? Do more people watch the men or the women? I have no idea. On the face of things, the three-set cape seems like a scam, but who can point us at some evidence one way or the other? _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Met a guy whose occupation was a horse breaker.
I laughed, thinking it was something completely different to what he told me that he did... |

I normally don't take much interest in people having a sook about their day on Facebook, but this post from a friend this morning made be laugh.

Jammed my finger closing cutlery drawer, dropped scissors pointy-end on to my foot, slipped on the tiny bit of blood as I was going for a bandaid, cracking knee into cupboard, spilled instant coffee over counter, upended the lid of kettle as I poured the hot water, lid ends up in mug and spills hot coffee over me, counter and floor, reboil jug, remake coffee, handle of mug choses this moment in time to detach from mug, which is now in about 47 pieces on kitchen floor. I have fled the scene of the massacre and am hiding under the blanky in my bed. With a piña colada. And a Valium. |

That's not true^^^
Men 3-5 sets
Woman play 2-3 yet earn the same money.
That's not equal! |

At my local Aldi as I was heading toward the one register that was open it seemed so was everyone else and the young check out bloke called that #4 will be open soon. I started heading that way when out of nowhere this woman jumped the que and the fella called out #5 so she stepped back to $5 desperate to get in first. Well as I wheeled my trolley past #4 it opened and I got in first. Apparently #4 & 5 were opening but the #4 check out opened up first.
I let the actual bloke who was first go in before me but I made this daughter of satan getteth behind me.

So the boy is up in Ballarat and got some work. Few days trial, negotiated a cash day rate, told would be paid on Wednesday. Must have done OK as signed up all the papers on Monday to go on the books. All good.
So Wednesday comes, finish work, approach the boss and ask for his pay as agreed. The boss informs him the pay will be in his account on Friday. Right wrong or indifferent, the boy wasn't overly satisfied with this response as he had been expecting cash on Wednesday and hadn't been told different. He also unfortunately has inherited a bit of a temper, so a bit of a verbal discussion happened that may have got a tad heated. As the conversation was progressing the boss apparently inquired about where the boys work boots were, something that had been raised a few times. The boys response was that they were in Melbourne and he would be picking them up that night when he went home to visit (and get a free feed). He may or may not have used the term "cocksucker" to refer to the boss in the course of this conversation.
It seems that the boss wasn't overly enamored at being addressed by that term and apparently responded by firing 2 quick punches to the boys head. Not a smart move. They are both apparently of similar height, over 6 foot, with the boss having around 20 years and 10kg on the boy.
The boy's response to this unexpected physical turn of events was to get just a tad annoyed and fire off 2 quick punches to the head region of the boss, and turn on his heel and storm off to the car and leave without bothering to wait and see what the impact was.
So when he rolled up to my place with a slightly swollen left cheekbone and a sore hand, all I could do after I got the story was laugh.
So today he went into work (not having been told otherwise) wearing his work boots that he took back with him.
The gentleman with whom he had the "discussion" with the previous afternoon was not at work today and, after viewing the boys (slightly) swollen cheek he was sent home for the day to "rest and get that swelling down".
We'll see if he has a job tomorrow. He has no concerns at working with the other gentleman again, as far as he's concerned he got hit twice, he hit back twice, all even, lets get on with the job. Just make $£$%^%%$ sure you pay me when you say you're going to.
And people say Perth is the wild wild west. |

Nope. He's back home.
He went in Thursday, the other bloke wasn't there, he got sent home to get rid of the swelling.
Went in Friday and worked the day, they said they'd call him to tell him where the next job was, no one called.
The only number he had was the bloke he had the "discussion" with, who for some reason wouldn't answer his calls or return his texts.
So after a few days of trying, decided it was a hint.
So now he's home, owed about $800 in unpaid wages that he's unlikely to ever see.
Moral of the story, learn when to keep your mouth shut. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Would you be able to tell who he worked for? I have worked with a lot of different trade people in Ballarat and not all are good! _________________ Cheers big ears |
