I thought Gibb's pass to Beams inside the 50 was superb. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Good point - they've been taking our cast-offs for long enough to deserve some reciprocity. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

C'mon guys, why would you want him, soft as margerine and just as yellow. He really should consider changing his moniker from Bryce to Brenda. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

I have had a tradition since I began following the mighty pies in the 80's of each time we win a flag I order and purchase a bottle of grange of that year when win a premiership. So far it's been an inexpensive hobby. But after tonight I think I will be trying to explain to my better half that the need for her to purchase a new sofa or bed will need to be delayed by a few years as my hobby is about to get expensive in the coming years.
If someone had said pre game would you take a 34 point win with the players we had missing everyone of us would have said yes.
The truth is had we kicked straight (we missed 8 set shots from within 35 - 40 meters in first 3 quarters we could have been up by over 90 with a quarter to play and that my friends is the proof of where this side is at) we are developing a very good side.
We are young and tonight very young in terms of age and games played.
I would hazard a guess this wouldnt have been a back line we would have thought we would have had to use before the year started. To keep any team to 2 goals in 3 quarters in today's football world in anyone's eyes is a huge effort.
I think the biggest positive to our club is the spread of who has been playing strongly week by week. We expect the Pendles swan and beams of the team to be in the best 5 each week (and generally 2 or all 3 are) but tonight they weren't. (I had Beams in the Gavin Brown votes only for his 4 goals and general good game)
We had 7 back line specialist out this week and still looked strong when the ball did go into our defense (forgetting the last quarter which I'm putting down to young players looking towards a bye more so than being unable to handle carlscum attacking thrusts)
Langdon - Jury was a little out on this kid had been ok but not overly great over the first 6 games but tonight announced himself as a quality player. So young and so calm a player of immense talent and tonight delivered on the field.
Witts Grundy combo is getting better each week. Both worked around the ground strongly and when they went forward looked dangerous. (Grundy lower your eyes son Bally was free 15 out in front no need for a ping from 50) but then he sharks the last play of the game and runs to 50 and goes bang was like the cherry on top of the worlds greatest icecream sundae.
Blair had his best game of the year by a long way if he played like this each week he wouldn't get the "must be dropped" posts weekly on this forum
Williams proved tonight he is all class and poise. Will be so much better after a few games under his belt. Damn his fade then fake n step to beat 3 blues players to hit a target was the future of this club. He is gold mark my words now Marley Williams can win a brownlow in the future
Elliot each week keeps on showing why he is so important to us. Kicks goals with great regularity and accuracy. Leaps like no other and does all the little things well. A great foil up forward as a 4th or 5 target when you consider we will have Trav, White, Reid, and possibly a resting ruck man there. Any defense will struggle to contain that array of talent and when you add the power of our mids to get forward and kick goals I'm very excited.
Sidey struggled tonight and I won't bag him as I thought tonight was a very important learning experience for him. Wasnt left alone to stand out side of packs and get soft stats and was made to earn a kick. I've said before I think he needs to work harder and tonight was part of that learning curve. But the upside was he kept running all night and looked like he was actually working hard to get his kicks.
Goldy always seems to be unfashionable in many eyes but his pressure is fantastic. Whether his forward or back he just harasses the opposition constantly. Don't know where he exactly fits in when we have a complete list to choose from but he has to be in the 22 just for his versatility and what he brings to the group.
Beamer now I am a unabashed fan and have known this kid all his life. Tonight he didn't have a touch in term 1 (did have 3 tackles though) but finished with 21 and 4 goals in 3 terms. That's a good nights work but did you see the look on his face in the 4th term when he kicked goals 3&4 he wasn't happy like he had a disappointing night. To me that screams volumes of the desire and where he wants to be each week. Loved the fact he wasn't happy with 21 & 4 goals which any carlscum player would love as a career highlight.
Overall 5 - 2 going into the bye is likely above expectation given our injuries we have sustained and after the freo nightmare.
With a lot of players coming back the jostling for a game weekly is going to be a nice problem to have.
Getting games into frosty and langdon is so valuable going forward.
I really like the look of our list it's strong in so many areas and we seem to be developing a few players who can cover a variety of roles.
I thought before this year we missed a Hodge type who can go back or forward or work through the middle depending on what's needed at times but now I think with found a few players who can do a role required by the coach for the team. At some time in the future I see Marley being our Hodge he has that look about him.
No grange tonight (but enjoyed a very nice 2009 Penfolds 407 and was convinced by "she who must be obeyed" not to open a second bottle) and smiled like a very happy camper.
Finally the chalice has returned from the forces of darkness and all in the world is good. |

Barring the last quarter foot-off-the-pedal stuff, this was a most satisfying win. _________________ "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me... you can't get fooled again." - Oscar Wilde |

Watched the first half in the Pub with a neutral mate. Very enjoyable and relaxing. Missed the first goal of the game though! _________________ Investment Property Calculator |

Sorry folks, I started watching when the Magpies were far enough ahead at 3/4 time just like the Richmond game - it happened again!

700 k / 22 games / (14* 57%). About $2200 per effective disposal. You need to fix a lot of prices at that rate....
I can't wish Daisy any ill, but he must be feeling pretty unhappy with his decision, right now. |
It was out of his hands. The club did not want him any longer as he was a disruptive player. We were more than happy to see him go and the compensation pick sealed his fate. Once we new the value of offloading him, there was no way we could pass that up for a player with a chronic ankle injury that had only played 13 games in three seasons for us.
He will always be a premiership player, but will never be loved by the faithful. Heater on the other hand will always be welcome back to the fray with open arms in years to come. _________________ Go Pies 2011!!!!

Sign Bryce Gibbs? What were you celebrating on last night? We don't need another faux midfielder and we don't need the salary cap hassles. No thanks!
As for the game. great win. Langdon is now my favourite young player. Elliott was superb. Josh Thomas is still under-rated (and much better value than Taylor Adams). Grundy was impressive, especially that long bomb on the siren. And folks it is now OFFICIAL Jarrod Witts is going to be a real player for us for the next ten years. How good is he on the ground for such a tall lad? Frost is Ivan Drago reincarnated. The kids are doing ALRIGHT!
Great first three quarters and it sets our season up beautifully. Well done Bucks. Well done players.
Only two worries. (1) Our goal kicking is still as bad as any team in the comp, and (2) our last quarter fadeouts. Fix these problems and we can give Hawthorn and Port a real red hot go. If we don't fix our goal kicking efficiency the Hawks will kill us, and if we don't fix our fitness, the fittest team in the country (Port) will murder us.
But we beat the Scum. You can't get much better than that! _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail |

You have that arse about.
Heater was the disruptive one. Daisy was still required, but wanted too much money with his dodgy ankle problems. |

BINGO!!
That is exactly how I feel. I cannot imagine Heater getting the reception that Thomas got last night. _________________ I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within. |
