Goodes is a tosser. Everybody makes mistakes. Eddie made one and apologised. Obviously Goodes has never made a mistake in his life! Never been a big fan of him anyway and this just confirms my feelings toward him. _________________ carn the mighty pies! |

Goodes was speaking at a Corporate Australia breakfast in Sydney. His remarks were considered and planned. |

My god some of the comments here are disgusting, I grew up in western Vict of Italian heritage waves called a [snip] numerous times got into fights etc as a kid not as an adult, Eddie in his position cannot be forgiven it's demonstrated his underlying views.
Ps. I love Eddie and Goodsy both champions |

In the words of Pauline Hanson "please explain?"
I thought he was an innocent Australian jogger senselessly killed by two young African Americans in a seemingly random & alleged racist shooting? (I don't know all the details)
He certainly would find it difficult to travel & perform the roles & functions expected of "Australian of the Year". | Racism has two heads dude he paid the ultimate price for being white |

I think you're missing the point. Goodes wasn't given Australian of the Year for being the biggest victim. There are plenty of victims of racism (whether mild or violent) in Australia today, and many, many more around the world. The award was given because of Goodes's role in the community, work with Indigenous youth and achievements as a sportsperson. Personally, I find the whole Australian of the Year thing a bit of a joke, but under the general criteria you can't really argue against Goodes's selection.
As for him and Eddie not being 'friends' any more, I agree with Mugwump that it seems like a questionable use of the term and perhaps a little vindictive. But I don't know the context of why or how it was said. If he was just expressing how he feels now about the whole thing, then fair enough. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Let's accept your argument for a minute:
As tragic an event as it was why should he be "Australian of the Year" & what does this awful event have to do with Adam Goodes being made "Australian of the year"?
Did Adam Goodes appoint himself to the position of "Australian of the Year"?
Was Adam Goodes responsible for the tragic shooting in the US?
Did Adam Goodes kill Bambi?
One could also argue that a lot of people "pay the ultimate price" due to racism. I suspect on a ledger so to speak and as crude as that is, Blacks would far outweigh Whites on that list.
Let's be clear, the shooting that you put forward & my comments have zero relationship to Goodes's views about Eddie or about Goodes being appointed to the position of Australian of the Year. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Can I ask you a question David? Would Adam Goodes have been selected Australian of the year if that girl had not called him an ape, if the incident never happened?
Thought not.
I don't think Eddie really gives two shits about Goodes. And goodes will never let it go. Nothing more to be done but for them both to move on. I'm confident one of them will. _________________ No Pressure, No Diamonds

Never liked Goodes before the incidents, as others have said he gets away with too much on the field and the tribunal. Bringing up this friends angle to a corporate breakfast makes me like him less.

Goodes has shot himself in the foot on this latest call to get himself in the media spotlight. The feedback is running 90% against him. |
