Some may have gloried in the days when it was legal to break a player's jaw by hitting him when he wasn't looking. Boy, footy was tough then. But that's not what I see as entertainment or as sport. At least in boxing, or the other martial arts, both competitors know what's coming. In Aussie Rules, as it was, many a coward's attack went unpunished.

So the change in rules to more protect players heads has been much needed. Have one or two rulings gone too far? Maybe. Though, even most of those have been overturned. The rules, as they stand, are sensible and necessary and I don't think they need to be relaxed at all.

Players have an easy option. They can wear a helmet. Roughhead very stiff. A reprimand at best.

Completely agree with most of the last few posts. Even some of what Greg Baum had to say this time. Laughing Laughing
Nobody wants to see blokes running around bumping high with the intention to knock their opponent into next year.

BUT, when a bump is legitimately in play, the recipient has to be aware he may incur some contact, and as such, has some responsibility to protect himself too!!!!!!
ie: don't put your head in between the opponent and the ball, put your body in between the opponent and the ball.
