Interesting to hear how a bloke with zero ball skills gets a regular game just for tackling. |

I'm sure you're just fishing for a reaction here Flash but I think a premiership player and one of the best kicks in the side deserves more respect than that _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Fair point Damo, but Goldy's disposal accuracy has IMO decreased since 2010, enough for idiot Malthouse to exclude him from 2011 Grand Final side. And all the games missed with injury in last 2-3 seasons haven't exactly helped his cause. I'm really hoping he improves that area in the 2nd half on 2014, because blokes who can't hit targets really can't be demanding a spot in the starting 21 anymore, and he ain't the Lone Ranger there...

It's not his disposal that's the problem, it's the sloppy fumbling week in and week out that bothers me. He was at it again today. At one stage he was on 3 disposals and 3 tackles and I think that was half time....hard to tell as being at the G makes it difficult to actually think straight such is the overpowering noise. I love Goldy, but against the good teams those fumbles will ultimately cost us. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

I was somewhat shocked to see he only finished with the 7 disposals and 3 tackles. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Yep this for sure.
Look his tackling, pressure and effort are first class and I love that aspect of his game plus he's a good long kick when he gets on to it which is great.
But his fumbles, double grabbing at the ball, dropped marks and lack of ball winning ability negate the good aspects of his game for mine. It's not such an issue when he plays forward (even though it's frustrating) but when he's down back my heart goes in my mouth every time he's piss farting around trying to gather the ball.
Sometimes I think he's indispensable and other times a real liability and ultimately I'm not sure where he sits in our best side. |

That's when he seems indispensable to us. He did what he does best that night providing a great contest and fulfilling a role.
It's the other times when he doesn't get near it and when he does his hands are like cement is when his position looks less assured.
Maybe when Reid and White are available the sub would be the perfect spot for Goldy as the ultimate trouble shooter or impact player. |

he hit the goal target pretty well from outside 50 today (which is a pretty good skill for a bloke who also used those shit ball skills to take a really strong one grab mark on a Dunstall like lead).
I wish I could possess such shit ball skills from outside 50.
Seriously, Goldy must just about be the first player picked in this team given his versatility. He is going to be such an asset when Reid comes back! _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

The pressure he puts on is the best at the club, he may not always get a tackle in but he makes the player with the ball worry when his coming charging at him because when he tackles he holds nothing back |

This may not be the strongest defense, but there will always be players in a side who pick up less than 10 disposals. The question is, do you want that player to be one who puts in 100% defensively and can play multiple positions? Or a Fasolo who can be damaging with his disposal but doesn't provide much besides, and only had 5 touches today? I think we saw the answer today where Fas was subbed off but Goldsack remained.
Goldsack may be unpolished, but he's still a gem. _________________ Well done boys! |

I find him the same as Cloke in that regard. He needs to kick through the football to find his best accuracy, and naturally has a massive boot on him so his best shots on goal will come from 50 out. Give him a shot from 35 and he's as good a chance to spray it like Trav. Wouldn't mind seeing his torp brought back out at some stage! |
