Why change the rules?
$£$%^%%$ stupid idea tactics will evolve to get around the "maul".
The "slingshot" tactic is one that can work
A long kick can help who knows the torpedo may make a comeback.

I'm of the thinking that any tactic has a way to beat it, don't need a new rule to do that. Are we going to introduce a new silly rule each time a coach finds a little tactic that works for them for a bit?

Seems silly to me.

Like introducing the centre square in 1975, did you know it was increased in size from 45m to 50m in 2004?
And what about the silly rule change in 1891 to bounce the ball in the middle of the ground after a goal and at the start of each quarter. Much better changing ends and kicking it back in Wink

I'm not against enhancing the game with some modifications, that's fine just the sub rule, interchange cap, and potential zoning just feel those aren't needed in a game that goes through it's own cycles.

Tactics used now won't be there forever, so inducing zoning to try and stop it is pointless. Once a team finds a way out of it, then teams will stop employing it. Isn't that what teams are spending millions on football departments? To come up with attacking and counter attacking tactics?

Do we need the AFL to make a rule to stop something that someone doing tactics could probably beat?

There have been 100 rule changes since 1939, 31 of those since 2000. People are carrying on as if rule changes have never happened before.

"Zoneball". Is that what Paul Roos had the Demons playing on Monday??
It certainly wasn't "Football". Rolling Eyes

Instead of ridiculing the people that come up with these sort of ideas Mr Roos, have a think about why people are suggesting such things!!!!
Your mind-numbing tactics come to mind.........

Well, what are we paying the rules of the game committee for if they can't come up with and implement at least one radical idea a year? Can't have the game stay as it is, people will get bored.
