That is my question. AFL website reckons he goes back to rookie list if Sharra comes of the long term injury list. [/code] _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

He was 21 at the beginning of the year and had played less than 10 games, so he is. Unless of course by "under 21" they mean "20 and under". Can anyone clarify that? _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Sounds logical. Probably explains why Martin hasn't got the nod too. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

We get a rookie upgrade after round 11 I believe, so no need for an LTI.
And the reason Martin hasn't been upgraded is because we didn't want to pick him, otherwise he would have been. _________________ Well done boys! |

We actually have Browns LTI and the mid year rookie upgrade available to us. Frost won't go back to the rookie list and if the club want to give Martin a game they can upgrade him too. |

According to Wikipedia the criteria is:
To be eligible to be nominated for the award, a player must be younger than 21 years of age on 1 January of the award year and have played 10 or fewer senior games before the beginning of the season. A player who is suspended[notes 1] during the season is not eligible to win the award, however is still eligible for nomination.[3]
At the end of the season, nine AFL personalities (typically administrators and All-Australian team selectors) vote for five of the twenty-two nominees, with their top selections earning five votes, their second selection earning four votes, etc. The player who receives the most votes is the winner.
Frost was born 25/2/1992, meaning he turned 22 in Feb this year, so he was 21 on January 1 so he is eligible. He hasn't been nominated yet which may put a crimp in his chances of winning. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

In all honest don't think Martin is worth an upgrade, think the opportunities he has had so far shows that VFL is about his standard.... We have enough players like him so I can go either way not fussed at all like some others. |

^^^ Stui, if he was 21 on January 1, then doesn't that make him ineligible? It would according to how we counted when I was a kid. |

Valid point. Being 21 is not the same as being younger than 21.
Ergo, on that revision of the criteria, he's not eligible. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Well, is it? I played under 16 football when I was 16, so I suppose the criteria there was actually 16 and under. Can anyone clarify this? Surely somebody knows. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Who really cares. I'm much happier to have an AFL ready key position player, than an entrant in the Rising Star. _________________ Be Staunch, Be Proud, Be Collingwood

Perhaps you turned 16 after the 1st of January, so you started the year under 16.
David, I bet you didn't think you were under 18 the day you turned 18 and could get into the pub legitimately. Frost was clearly not under the age of 21 on the 1st of January this year.
Let's not discount the possibility you were just cheating the system. _________________ Be Staunch, Be Proud, Be Collingwood |

He's not eligible as he plays for Collingwood simple as that. They give these nominations in most cases to the GWS & Suns to give the local papers something to write about. (or in the latest case to a player who's club has had no good news worthy stories written in 18months)
It's a nothing award judged by nothing people.
Frosty is a very very good improving player I'm happy with that |
