Post subject: Age Breaking Story: Swan Attends Gatto Pizza Party | |
|
The Age is leading with a story that Dane Swan was paid to attend a Gatto party, publicised as An Evening with Dane Swan. The AFL is asking questions and so is Collingwood. Doesn't sound as if there's much consistency between what Swan's manager, Liam Pickering says and what Swan is alleged to have said. Hope this is a storm in a tea cup and is all above board. You gotta ask the question though, why do footballers find underworld figures so enticing? It can't be the money. The Age is very careful when speaking of Swan's past, but the reference to Gary Pert's 2012 statement regarding player behaviour being 'volcanic; is not accidental I don't think.

Disgraceful beat up. He was a paid speaker at a semi-public event. Big deal.
He should tell Pickering to pull his head in, no more than that. |

I'm no Pickering fan, that's for sure, but he is Swan's manager and was asked by The Age and Collingwood for comment. He said he knew nothing about it. Beat up? Maybe, but I'd prefer our players to stay away from underworld figures; it just brings the wrong focus; look at Richmond. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

I know Fat Angie personally and if he is the biggest underworld name the Age could come up with outside of Mick they're struggling... |

It's unfortunate certain shady individuals attended the event however what concerns me is that Swanny claims his manager organized it while his manager claims not to know anything about it.
What the......? takes me back to Heater & Dids. |

And well may the demise of Fairfax continue at pace. The Age is a rag that deserves to be shunned by all Melbournians.
Next thing they'll be saying that Swannie had a night out with Jake King and Alan Didak. _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail |

Here's an idea lets make a pact here on Nicks and not make a single comment on this non-issue. Starting with me.

Devils advocate here. The AFL rules are clear about guilt by association. We can't point the finger at a Tiger Player who is good mates with a OMG Member and then turn around and say Swan has done nothing wrong by attending a dinner with the underworld. Swan is not the sharpest tool in the shed and no doubt his motive was totally innocent but the rules are there and the bloke at fault is his so called mate who set him up for it as a favour. |

So you don't like Fairfax doggie?
Let me guess you are also against the ABC, in fact you probably dislike anything public...
You probably think the recent budget was fair...
There are lots of different kinds of rotten types out there - it is a pity many of them are white collar and currently in government. The reality is the Murdoch media likes to focus on the dole bludgers and welfare cheats - a small minority stealing a few crumbs, whereas the big end of town with its supporters in the LNP and Collie Dog go on stealing the cake and leaving everyone with their dog sh*t! _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

It needs to be discussed, what we should do in protest is not visit the Age website or purchase the newspaper. That will work better than silence. |

Manager can be very different to player agent, are we sure they're not different? _________________ McRae for Governor-General! |
