Quote:
ANOTHER nine AFL clubs could be investigated by WorkCover as the fallout from the supplements scandal threatens to spread.

The nine does not include Essendon, which is already under investigation by the Victorian WorkCover Authority for its sports science program that resulted in a ban from last year's finals, fines, the suspension of coach James Hird, and more recently, show-cause notices from ASADA(Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority) to its players.

The new documentation lodged with VWA names Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs as 'relevant clubs'.

This could be a Massive Worry that we been Lumped into the Pedptide Bombers case.

Though Reading it’s more how it’s Done then What is being Used

Don't worry, DTM, that's just a list of the Victorian clubs (except Essendon -already the subject of an investigation). The other 8 are based interstate and thus beyond workcover's jurisdiction.

How should someone comprehend this?

The new documentation lodged with VWA names Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs as 'relevant clubs'.

It's not clear where the complaint against the Victorian clubs has originated but it’s believed to be in relation to their 'sports science' practices as well.

It is now up to the VWA to decide if it will launch an investigation.

The fact is that, as uncomfortable as it is for us to admit, Essendon's supplement program was not necessarily an exception. It was simply the one that crossed the line. As the article suggests, our players are given supplements too, and we can just be thankful that (we believe) our club has been careful to abide by the rules.

It's good that WorkCover is looking into this. Let's hope that a) Collingwood FC hasn't been doing anything unethical; and b) any club that is shirking its responsibility to players' health is found and punished.

It's an anonymous request to investigate that can be lodged by anyone.
Work Cover won't even give it a second look, especially considering the fact the other 17 clubs have already been cleared by the AFL.

Maybe reading Patrick Keane's thoughts on this will alleviate your fears Wink

Right on Beast. The chances of Workcover actually investigating are practically nil. Whoever wrote this and the released it to the media is a pro Essendon supporter who thinks Dean Robinson is actually Ian and can't count the number of clubs in Victoria. It is complete and utter spin crap.

as has been said - Vic workcover so only vic clubs being looked at.

I cant help but think its coming from workcover given the criticism of them not getting involved early days.

The key difference at Essendon V the other clubs is that they had an INJECTION program. Add to this the fact that there were very young players and the impact of peer pressure to join to program. There are Peptides you can still take legally by mouth.

Pies have said clearly we have not injected and the AFL had a hard look at all clubs early days.

I agree with Culprit. Essendon or one of its proxies lodged this complaint. Nothing to see here, move along.
