Still some time off returning from his second knee reco anyway and will need plenty of VFL time upon his return.
Not the quickest around to begin with and how much this has affected him is yet to be known
Hard to see him getting back into the side this season unless he can find another niche.
The days of a tagger in the side as purely a stopper is fast becoming obsolete with players in that role also needing to get dangerous going the other way which Crisp is excelling at present.
Is a coach favourite so he has that going for him. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

It's a nice sentiment, but who would Caff replace in the forward line? As a medium forward who can run through the middle, PK is superior imo, and he certainly won't replace Elliott or Blair. I'm struggling to see a place for him in the current side... |
Exactly. Caff was never more than a defensive forward who didn't kick a lot of goals. I don't see where he gets a spot ahead of any of the guys in attack or defense right now. Sure that could change come the pointy end of the season where eventually bodies will be banged up and tired. But then we have De Goey, Marsh, Kenno, Freo, Schaz, Broomy and Faz waiting in the wings. How Caff gets a game ahead of those guys bar maybe Faz on anything other than senior experience is hard to see. |

Crisp. I still think Caff can be valuable as a forward though. |

List is getting thin then, looking like we've already lost Keeffe and Thomas, and there are a few who (apparently) need to have there cards stamped. |

Caff could play defensive forward to mind the oppo playmakers kinda like he did in '10. Didn't work for the Sack coz he's too fumbly. _________________ Get back on top. |

as players start to tire in the run him caff will be the perfect replacement. also, he's in that ideal demographic for finals footy. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Perhaps I should stay out of this thread, but I honestly can't see how he fits in. Has never been a good kick for goal and believe he is worse since his knee reconstruction. If you don't believe me watch a game from last year, Caff is lucky to kick the ball 30 metres.
Maybe they could still play him as a tagger at times and let Crisp be totally offensive. Anyway the Pies obviously rate him more than I as they gave him another year.
Cheers

I think Crisp might go beyond the run-with role, the way he's coming on. Crisp could wind up being our Swan replacement. If so, then Caff could return as a tagger. (Swanny is in such form that he might go till end of season 2017 though.) _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Definitely Crisp! He's been brilliant in his current run-with role but he's offensive game shouldn't be underestimated and his penetrating left foot has been great for us. In all honesty Crisp has been revelation for this side and the clear surprise packet of the season.
Caff is without doubt a strong tagger but offensively he's not the best player going around. He does have experience up forward as we saw in 2010 so he's more than capable playing forward but I do see him struggling to regain his spot in the senior side especially if the younger players maintain their form. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

it's not crowley per se, more so the role they have somewhat abandoned. it's been a blessing in disguise for them. run with roles can be counterproductive. anyway, players just need to be able to play the role assigned to them. it's silly to define caff as solely a tagger. he was able to adapt to that role so i am sure he can adapt to a different role if required. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

I say retain both but Crisp is the first preference, Caff can definitely play forward depending on his recovery. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".
