with 2 rucks and a tall forward line and now we do the opposite.
Stupid planning. |
Remember, there were 6 on the bench in the NAB games. The problem was that neither Witts or Grundy did much as resting forwards, which is why we ended up relying on Gault, who showed good form in the NAB. Unfortunately, Gault was found wanting in his 2 games of the season proper. At some stage I'd expect to see both Witts and Grundy used together. We look a faster team with just the one proper ruckman, but its tempting fate, because if Grundy got injured, Moore and Cloke would have to step up.
Down the track, if Cox can continue to improve, he'd be a great option to partner our first ruck - Grundy or Witts - because he seems to be a better forward option than our other rucks. |
We looked better in the NAB than the last 2 weeks.
What was the point in going tall in the NAB?
Given Gault just 2 games and then back to the VfL
does nothing for his confidence.
My point is you back a plan and keep with it for a fair time.
Otherwise it is Wishy Washy!!!!!! |
And how much confidence will it do for the coach, the club and the supporters if Gault plays against St Kilda and we lose? |

God help us if Grundy goes down early, one of White or Gault or Twitt has to play, $£$%^%%$ bizarre selections, as per usual. _________________ Defender...........

It is just a disrespectful way of referring to Witts. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

Great summation. We have to blood players who can kick and have upside! _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

They kept Blair.
Both Blair and Gault had a good NAB.
Both Blair and Gault have had a crap start to the real season.
Gault gets sliced and Blair gets his usual place.

I'm no Blair fan but you cant compare his game to Gaults. Gault played probably the worst half of footy ever played by any player, anywhere. He simply had to be dropped. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

Gault was at fault,
But Blair was fair,
So too was Sinclair,
But as for Cloke,
It's just a joke. |

This should hopefully be the first time we see our boys play well this season. I've bought an extra carton in case I'm wrong though.
Hoping for 2-1 (8 points) and 100% percentage ... we'll be closer to on track for finals than we deserve from our performances so far.
Really excited for next week when we get Sidey and Varcoe back which will create some pressure for spots again. _________________ All We Can Be |

What I observed with Gault in the first half was a player who was tentative and holding back at the contest. That's unforgivable in my opinion because it sets a bad example to the rest of team. To Gault's credit he improved in the second half, particularly in the last quarter when he got a few taps and contributed to the win. Still didn't do enough to keep his spot, but hopefully it teaches him what he needs to do to play AFL and execute those things he has to do at VFL level in order to play AFL again. |

I was hoping we'd stick with Gault for three more weeks while we went through our run of games against crap teams, but I guess thinking we could get away with carrying someone could've blown up in our faces.
Anywho, I like that we're not going with three tall forwards. We've been doing that forever and it's time for a change. It'll be good to see how we go with a more mobile forward line.
And I'm not worried about not having a back ruckman in case Grundy goes down. You can't think like that. We just have to assume that he won't go down and just pick the what we think is the best 22. |

Gault can build his confidence in the magoos. There has to be reward for effort and output in the seniors - it is not a charity position!
Gault and Caff have had 2 pretty poor weeks - Frost was below average and so they all need to go back and work on their game. I am sure they will all be given another chance if they train hard and perform. Caff was in the leadership group IMO for this reason. There are going to be quite a few players on the fringe of the senior team this year, including Caff - but his attitude has been great making him a strong leader/role model for those aspiring to take their game to the next level… with a good attitude! _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |
