Go figure. We are kind of a dumb club...Mayne recruitment and all. This kind of stuff doesn't surprise me anymore. |
Sorry, but this is silly. A mis5ake was made on the Mayne recruitment, but excellent calls were made on Howe, and though it is early days, it looks like an excellent call was made on Cox and Murray as well. Adams’ kicking is his relative weakness, no question, but it has improved markedly and he’d be in any best 22 in the comp. Why do people select a few mistakes or issues, ignore huge positives, and conclude that the club they support is “a dumb club” ? |
As far as I see it our free agency calls have been terrible and it's a lesson to be learned about using free agency (apart from Wells in which it's too early to call), while our trades have been terrific. Now that Heater's career is trailing away we are ahead of this trade with Adams (a potential captain) for the next 10 years. His kicking is a minor hiccup. Treloar and WHE are both astute trades as well despite the high price we paid for Treloar. Howe and Varcoe, we are both ahead of the ledger, while Jesse White is one we should never have done (which most Nicksters warned against doing). |

Yes, that’s fair. At this stage I’d say Wells is also a miss, but there may yet be a redeeming Indian summer. Our trading has been excellent, our drafting a bit hit and miss but that’s the nature of the Draft. Trading out D Thomas and Lumumba were both inspired decisions. I always wonder what psychological impulse is served by the relentless bagging of our own. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

I think it's impossible to change his technique (I had the same issue )
Reminds m of Stan Nowotny who played 278 games for Swan Districts from 1969-1985 (Captain '77-'81). His kicking was hit and miss with the two handed drop, yet he made up for it with his guts and determination.
He played in 2 premierships and represented WA on 7 occasions. He also won a B & F in 1974.

White was a definite hit. Not a great outlay and played many games. _________________ Well done boys! |

3 minutes to go Adams kicks a 20 metre kick to a Hawks player.
Lands on his chest.
Never seen a worst kicker of the ball.
Butcher Adams is an appropriate name. |

He has some serious competition. He’s hopeless but he may not even be the worst at Collingwood, let alone the worst in the AFL. Be good when he retires, though - the pathetic comparisons with the all-time great we cleared to get him are just tragically stupid. |

So glad he got pipped for the Copeland. That would’ve been a stain on the trophy. _________________ Cancel the Cancel Culture. |
